[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width, 500px] [atrb=style,border-top: 10px solid #4477aa;background-color: #222222;] SIXTEEN ✖ FEMALE ✖ PANSEXUAL ✖ MUTANT
✖Power/AbilityHealing Factor ~ Extrovert:
Basically with a gentle touch Aithne is able to heal most superficial wounds with little energy spent. Which can be useful should one of her friends need a little first aide. However, there are drawbacks to her attempting to heal larger, more dangerous wounds. Attempting such a feat drains her quickly to the point where she is so weary she can barely stand. She has not yet mastered her ability, but she's sure with continued practice, she will be able to heal increasingly damaging wounds with less energy needed. At least, that has seemed to have been the case the past three years since the discovery of her powers. Sadly, she is unable to heal herself and her body simply needs to recover itself. Healing others does not cause her physical harm, it simply drains her energy. A nice meal or nap tends to get her back on her feet rather quickly.
That is not to say that she will ever be able to bring someone back from the dead. She cannot, and will not ever. She could never drag one's soul back from whatever realm to which it goes after death. But she may eventually be able to bring someone from near-death, however, that would take so much of her own energy, she is uncertain what damage it may cause her. After all, the body needs so much energy just to keep living. If she were to drain herself to such an extent, how close to death would she bring herself? She is unwilling to find out any time soon. ✖ PersonalityOutward appearances peg this girl as a veritable ray of sunshine. She loves to smile, and when she walks it almost seems as though she is dancing instead. She can seem a bit immature for her age, but she is determined to live her youth to its fullest. She doesn't have much time left in her childhood, after all. She is easily excited, exclaiming over the slightest of things, cooing over sweet gifts and window-shopping with 'Ooo's and 'Aahh's. She's quite animated, many of her body's gestures over the top and over exaggerated.
She has a general adoration of infants, small furry critters and large dogs, especially Pyrenean Mastiffs, as her mother had a couple as Aithne grew up. She currently owns two white-faced Sugar Gliders, Gidget and Gizmo. They are the joy of her existence. It was with Gizmo that she learned of her healing abilities. So he is particularly dear to her. And if she corners you with pictures of them, settle in for a long ride, because she loves to brag on her pets something fierce.
More often than not one is likely to find her dancing to music somewhere, anywhere, be it at a youth club, a karaoke bar or even a shopping center with music over the speakers. It doesn't matter where she is. She's here for a good time! And she is rather insistent on others joining her. She dislikes seeing others being antisocial, so she does have a habit of invading anothers personal space. Mostly because she hasn't much of a personal bubble herself. She loves touch, cuddling, holding hands piggy-back rides, any kind of contact she can get.
Her voice tends to be lilting, or sing-song-y. Aithne enjoys accents and can often be heard speaking with various accents from around the globe. If she watches a movie with a fun accent in it, she spends a good part of the next month or so trying to learn to mimic it. Aside from that she enjoys crochet and is forever making little gifts for those around her, or slings for her gliders.
However, all folk have their darker sides. Their shadows. Aithne hides behind her smiles, as she has a constant, nagging depression in the back of her chest, causing her to fear what people around her would do should her powers be discovered by anyone outside the family. When alone she often keeps the room dim and cool, with her eyes glued to her computer screen and her headset on, so she can drown herself in music meant to encourage hope, even if she sometimes finds it difficult to find hope herself.
It could simply be that she spends so much energy being happy around others that she simply is too tired to be happy alone. But some find that left to her own devices, she has rather depressing habits. She loves to lay out in the yard when it rains, just letting the drops pour over her. She usually has a hoodie on when on her computer, the top pulled close over her face and her gliders tucked into the pockets.
But as soon as the sun comes out and it's time again for school or other outings, the smile is back on her face, and a scant few would ever guess the queasy-tummied mass she was just the night before. ✖ HistoryAithne is an only child. The reason being that her parents simply could not afford another mouth to feed, and they were sensible people. Her father is a jack-of-all-trades, but he never managed a higher paying job, as he never had the college education to prove he could do most of the stuff he could. He made a living driving semi-trucks, which tended to move them around a lot. You followed the work. Her mother was a waitress in a number of restaurants, the both of them working 12-16 hour days just to support themselves and give their daughter the best education they possibly could.
Aithne started learning from an early age and by the time she entered school she could speak a jumble of three different languages, though she wasn't particularly fluent in any one of them. She had a habit of piecing together words and being confused when other people did not understand her. She learned English, Chinese, and Gaelic, her parents giving her computer programs for learning at a very young age. As she continued to grow, she began to learn the difference between them and started to separate them for the sake of those around her.
She grew with a love of numbers as well, her father teaching her shortcuts in math from a young age. This cause her some difficulty in school, sadly, as points were often taken off for not showing her work or doing the math in a different way than the teacher was showing the class. Her first 9 years of school were rather difficult for her. She didn't make great grades, and she didn't have any friends she would consider life-long potentials. Oh, people were nice enough to her, and she was inviting as well, but she just never really connected with anyone.
It wasn't until she started highschool that she started to feel like she belonged somewhere. She was no genius, though she did have a good amount of intellect. Not that she showed it often, much to her parents' dismay. She did enter advanced classes and did well, for their sake.
But things had got rough before they got better. It was in middle school she suffered the most. Her parents had bought her a pair of baby Sugar-Gliders for making it safely into the middle school of their choice, a lovely private school. She adored them and learned much about responsibility from Gidget and Gizmo. But it was just before her thirteenth birthday that one of her mother's mastiffs had managed to get ahold of Gizmo, who had somehow escaped his cage and started running amuck in the house.
How the poor baby had survived, Aithne would never know. The bear of a dog could have swallowed the little creature whole. The best she could figure was that the giant had only meant to play with the small creature and got carried away. It was as she cradled Gizmo to her chest, tears streaming down her face, her parents standing before her at a loss that her ability came to her. One moment she stood, cradling an almost dead Gizmo in her arms, next she was flat on her back worn out with a zipping Gizmo running circles on her chest.
The family had stared at each other in shock and dismay began to wash over them. They had seen the news where young teens had been disappearing. Where to, no one knew. But they certainly did not think this was a coincidence. What if there were others like Aithne and that was why children were disappearing. Her parents had insisted she keep this a secret. And this time is when her battle with depression began. She had to close part of herself off from others and now she was a freak. Different from others.
Highschool brought distractions. And she was able to forget for awhile how different she was. But when she came home, it was to lessons from her father, who insisted she learn her gift properly. He was certain it might come in handy one day. They hoped she would eventually be able to heal herself. No such luck at the time. She took classes in medicine and anatomy and biology at her father's urging. He was certain that she could be a nurse or doctor and if she learned to control her ability well, she may even be able to put it to good use and still hide behind a decent degree.
And so her life was planned out for her, lead by an ability she had never asked for. Some resentment built up in her for that. But caution was forefront in the minds of her family, and for their sake, she followed their guidance. Besides, as a Doctor, wouldn't she be better able to care for her parents in their old age? That was something to work towards, anyway. ✖ ExampleJanuary 23th of my twelfth year Weather: cloudy with serious storms Mood: trapped, but at least Gidget and Gizmo are enjoying the cloud cover
So, it's been about a year since my parents put me into middle school. Honestly the only good thing about this past year has been my babies, Gidge and Giz. They've grown so fast! They actually fill my hand now! When I first got them I could cup them in my palm! I never would have thought.
I wonder if that's what my parents mean by me growing too fast. Well, hopefully I don't have sugar gliders my size. That's not even possible, right? Now I hafta do MORE research, just to make sure. I hope they stay small. They're o cute this way.
Anyway, I hafta do a stoo stupid science project with some guy in class. And he's an idiot. Wants to do something with frogs and lizard, which is fine! I like frogs and lizards, but I'm sure he wants to do something unpleasant to them, which I am not interested in at all. I think I got the teacher on my side, at least. He has us doing some chemical reaction thing with coke and mentos or something. We're supposed to figure out why it does what it does...I don't even know what it does. Maybe Dad will know.
Yeah, I'll go ask him.

Oh, so, turns out it explodes and is messy, or something. That could be fun to do. I'm sure that will distract the jerk enough to save a few amphib amfib amphibians, right...

February 14th of my twelfth year Weather: unbearably chilly with too much sun for it to be so cold! Mood: Agast agas Unhappy and shocked at the same time!
This is why I hate HATE this stupid holiday! I HATE it! Stupid Johnny! Stupid...! What made him think I wanted a valentine from him, anyway!? I mean, it would have been ok, if he hadn't given me a candy that was actually a live toad smeared in chocolate just to creep me out! I mean, who DOES that? Really!
And then everyone laughed at me when it moved and I screamed, well of course i did who expects their friggin candy to move when it's given to them UGH!
And that, that JERK was laughing all stupid like and I just....
What makes it worse is the only other cards I got were from the nice people in the class that didn't want to eave anyone out and the teacher. THE TEACHER! Who gave us little pieces of dried fruit instead of candy, WHAT?
I just...Stupid holiday.

Dad says he did it because he thinks I'm pretty, but I don't care! That's not the way I want people liking me!
June 12th of my twelfth birthday Weather: cloudy, but warm Mood: SOSOSOSOSOSO CONFUSED AND SCARED
I don't know what just happened! I....
I'm so scared I'm still shaking! I don't even know what to think! How did this happen? Mom and Dad say they'll figure something out and I'm just not aloud to tell anyone, but...This is sooo...
Ok, ok. Let's just do this.
So I found Tessa, my mom's dog, nosing Gizmo out in the dining room. Giz wasn't...wasn't moving. I panicked you know. Cause he's my baby! And I hit Tessa and I shouldn't have because she was probably just playing with him, but she' so BIG and Giz is so small an there was no way that it could go well. I was so mean cause Tessa cried, but Giz wasn't moving!
And I picked him up and he was bleeding all over and Mom and Dad acted like they didn't know what to do. I begged them to fix Giz but the didn't. Wouldn't! So all I could do was cry and be useless! Just like them! Useless!
And I was begging him to please wake up. That's all I remember before I opened my eyes, I was laying on the floor and Giz was playing with the buttons on my overalls. My parents were freaking out, saying I had passed out and suddenly Giz wasn't bleeding anymore. We don't really know what happened, but...Dad thinks maybe I fixed Giz. ME with my telling him to wake up. I don't know.
But now my parents are really scared, looking at me funny and all. I don't know what's gonna happen now, but it looks bad. I mean, who wants a freak for a daughter who does weird things like that, huh? Normal people can't do that!

August 6 of my thirteenth year Weather: Who cares? Mood: whatever
Alright, well, we moved, I'm not to tell anyone what's going on and now I don't know anyone. Great. Mom and Dad think I might get taken away. But that's silly. Shouldn't I be sent away so someone can fix me? A doctor or something?

June 13th of my 16th year Weather: Sun-shiny and wonderous! Mood: Ecstatic!
Holy koi-fish! I had completely forgotten this journal! I'm sorry, George. Yes, your name is George, now! Hope you like it! <3
Man, I was really childish, wasn't I? And that was only a few years ago! I've changed a lot, don't worry. I might get angsty sometimes, but I'm feeling much better about somethings. Sorry for neglecting you so long, George. It's just Highschool has been really busy and lots of fun and I totes lost you! It's ok. We're back together now and I won't lose you again!
So, apparently James or Johnny or whatever traumatized me, cause I totes haven't attempted any relationships after that mess. But my attentions have broadened. There are some lovely people in the world. I did have my first kiss precisely 1 year ago on my fifteenth birthday. Leslie was born a boy, but he makes such a pretty girl and that's what he wants to be, so I think it's ok. How about you?
I knew you would agree, George. You're good people like that.
Anyway, I'm in some advanced classes and they're keeping me busy. I'm also in the colorguard, which is fun. Apparantly Apparently I'm to become a Doctor cause I'm getting pretty good at the healing people thing. At least, I'm good at healing Dad's various bumps, bruises and etc. But they think it would be good to do something related so I can hide it better. Just say it's cause I'm so good at my job or something.
I still have Gidge and Giz. They're great. Giz is actually a lot mmore energetic than Gidge and you know the odd thing is he's never been sick or anything. Even when poor Gidge had to be sent to the vet with a sick, Giz acted like nothing was wrong at all. I wonder if that whole mess before had something to do with it.
Oh, turns out I know why I passed out way back when, but...Well, I'm running outta time, gotta go help Mom with dinner. But I'll explain to you later, yeah?
Seeya, George! This character is played by [Star].

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width, 300px] [atrb=style,border-top: 10px solid #4477aa;background-color: #222222;]ACCEPTED!
She looks amazing! And I see little reason not to accept her. Although! You may not make her healing power too strong, because as I see it now, she can bring someone from the dead when she has her full potential with little to no energy taken away from her.
I'm sure you won't do that, but just keep that in mind to keep her powers a little in check. :)
Also fill in the face and power claim if you haven't done so already. But either way, welcome to the site and hope you'll enjoy your time here. :) And if you're interested in a roleplay, I'm willing that a PM or posting in a plot thread guarantees that you'll have some. |
