Short hair was pulled up in a messy ponytail, bright blue running shorts and a white tank top to finish up her look. She stretched out in the large living room, the news was on barely over a buzz.
That girl and her exercising. Deliliah's brown eyes flickered to the kitchen, a small smile spread on her face. "Ok, honey! Just be safe." Delilah last heard as the screen door slammed behind her, she did a slow jog and then speed up, getting to her half way mark to the park.
Then she was at the entrance, people with dogs, their children, and even those out exercising themselves had found themselves here. But she wasn't her just for physical exercising but also mental exercising. This just wasn't an exercising for her wellbeing but for her power the sprouted only three years ago. Delilah concentrated on something so the flood of voices around her would go into a dull buzz, as if mosquitoes were around her instead of the thoughts of open minds.
Delilah focused on her breathing, her footsteps, and the laughter of children happy to be out of school. But she from time to time on her now slow jog, she would push out to other people whose minds were closed off to see if they would open or shut off from her even more. She wondered if other people had powers just like her and her brother, sadly she was told she wasn’t allowed by Ben to tell others that she was ‘special’. He had always been like this, but he was being protective like an older brother, right?
Delilah lifted her head up and smiled as the sun washed between the trees onto the sidewalk; it was going to be a good day. She then started to slow her pace down once she found that she was getting closer to the fountain, she could hear it. Delilah then stopped, and walked around the large fountain once to keep her breath straight. She then plopped down on the fountain proud of how her run went. Delilah needed to remember that the cheering sqaud was meeting up next week, which meant she had to do additional stretching besides what she would do before exercising.
Delilah leaned back and looked over a mom and her child who started crying. A soft smile crossed her face, seeing in the mothers head that she just wants the best for her child even if he stressed her out. Once more she looked up at the sky, her mind wandered off to some other world, which would always get her in trouble, it’s not her fault if she didn’t want to pay attention at the moment, but she was an in-the-moment kind of person, if some said to jump she would be one of the few to actually jump because she would do it and she probably wasn’t paying attention. A sigh escaped her lips her thoughts went back to those who could have powers, would she know if they had powers, would they know she had powers? Walking around the high school for these few years looking at the students there was no telling.
She wished to tell others, it was exciting, but if it did slip would something bad happen? What she didn’t know was that there were people looking for those that were special like her.

It would be nice to not have to worry about other things like work or classes for a change. Well... At least classes. He still had work to do. But while he was kicked out of his dorm at college for the summer, he had been staying at his parents house, readjusting to life there. If he had to choose, he'd much prefer staying here without an annoying roommate. Not to mention the perks of sleeping in were fantastic. And that was just what he was doing with his day off work. Of course if his mother hadn't noticed how exhausted he was, she might have made him get out of bed and do something active instead of sleeping all day like she used to do. But he ended up waking up regardless, much too used to being up and running around anyway, much to his demise. Oh well. He'd get used to it.
He stretched and released a yawn before rubbing his brown eyes, still rather tired but feeling much better than he had yesterday. He was actually half surprised his siblings hadn't attacked him this morning. Then again, Delilah had probably grown out of that. Or mom made her leave him alone. He smirked at the thought as he got up and began to dress, listening outside his room. It seemed pretty quiet. Maybe too quiet. He sighed at the thought, attempting to communicate with Delilah through thought. He didn't get anything back though and made his way out of the room to see what was up. It didn't take him long to figure out Delilah was gone. On her usual jog. "Figures." he chuckled to his mother. "I'm going to go hunt her down, make sure she stays out of trouble." he smirked, saying his goodbye's before leaving the house and heading towards the park, knowing very well if she went for a jog that would be the first place to check.
He kept his mind open, calling for her via his thoughts. He had grown accustom to communicating with her like that. It was just convenient sometimes. Especially like now. He wouldn't have to bring a lot of attention on himself with all these people roaming about. He frowned slightly at the thought, continuing his search. It wasn't long however till he reached the fountain, smirking at the sight before quietly approaching, noticing the girl seemed lost in her thoughts. Once there, he sat next to her. "You know if I was in a mischievous mood I could have pushed you in the fountain right now." he teased jokingly. "What are you daydreaming about this time, brat." he chuckled, relieved to see she was fine. What could possibly happen to her? He didn't know. He was just overprotective like that.

Delilah was unaware of her brother was looking for her, of course she then felt a slight push but waved it off, sometimes some people are interested when a person looked deep in thought and she just thought someone was staring at her too far.
Delilah slowly turned her head and then jumped back slightly out of shock, a quick gasp and a hand shot up to her chest to keep her heart in. Her breathing was fast and then took in a deep sigh before smiling. “Well, I’m glad you’re not in that mood.” She then crossed her arms, “Plus you wouldn’t anyways. I don’t think you really have it in you to push me in.” Delilah smirked up to Ben. She fixed her ponytail, feeling it wanting to fall out, her lips pressed together as she thought of how to answer her brother.
“Do you think there are others out there, too? With powers like us?” She looked up at him, her brown eyes held curiosity “Think we can go out and find them?” She blinked slowly and looked back out at the crowed. “I mean we can’t be the only ones out there.” Delilah rambled, bringing her legs up to crisscross them and leaning her head into her hands.
The only mutants that she knew where herself and her brothers, but something didn’t seem right, someone would have to come out eventually, right? A slip up? Oh, or maybe someone becomes a superhero, but she was taught that that could be stress educing to the body. Or did she read about that?
Her eyes flickered back up to Ben an apologetic smile came onto her face. “Sorry, too serious for me, huh?” She then stretched out. “What’s up bro? I thought you would take advantage of a day of.” She raised an eyebrow. “That’s why I left you alone.” Secretly her mother told Delilah not to bother Benjamin, telling her that ‘No he didn’t want to go on a run with her’, when deep in her mother’s mind she just wanted the boy to get some sleep.

At first he was a little worried, making sure she wasn't about to fall in before laughing at her, unable to help it. It's what she get's for daydreaming like that. He smirked at the thought. He surely hadn't intended that reaction but he wasn't going to complain. It made the stress trying to find her worth it.
He grinned playfully at her response before pursing his lips in a bit of a pout when she said he didn't have it in him to push her in the fountain. She had a point. He couldn't really see himself doing it either. But she didn't have to know that. "I don't know. I can be pretty evil." he chuckled, flicking her forehead like he'd used to when the girl would annoy him. It was all in good fun however though he figured she wouldn't appreciate it. She never really did. Which only made it more fun to do. It was just the usual relationship between siblings, always annoying and pestering each other. But when it came down to it, they really cared about each other. This was no different.
When she answered his question with her own question, he looked down to her, smile fading a bit. How did he not see that coming? He listened however, humoring her. Of course despite being uncomfortable about the subject, especially when they were talking about it in public. But unfortunately he couldn't deny his own curiosity about it. It had passed his mind a few times. They couldn't possibly be the only one's with powers. At least he hoped not. Then she went further, talking about finding them. He rolled his eyes before chuckling. Typical. Of course if they tried to find anyone, it meant the chances of revealing their powers which was something he had made her promise not to do. But he was used to this. He honestly couldn't blame her for wondering. He just wished it didn't seem so dangerous.
She finally seemed to snap out of her rambling and he caught the apologetic smile. "Little bit." he agreed before adding something for her mentally. 'We can talk about it some other time.' he thought with a soft smile. Sure they could do it now mentally without anyone hearing but he'd much prefer another time, mostly because he wasn't sure how to answer her just yet.
Luckily she seemed okay with changing the subject, much to his thanks. He chuckled when she mentioned her reason for leaving him alone though. "I was wondering why you hadn't barged into my room this morning." he smirked before releasing a sigh. "I don't know. I planned on it but I haven't been able to get much sleep anyway." he shrugged. It was becoming a real problem. And the fact he was pretty tired was evident by the slight bags under his eyes. But what could he do? He assumed he'd pass out eventually when the time was right he supposed. "So I figured I'd go out here and hunt you down instead of staying in bed all day." he explained. "How about you? Got anything else planned for the day?" he asked, actually curious.

Then the flick came, her hands quickly shot up to her forehead. She then did a deep pout, looking up at her brother; he always did this to annoy her, every sing time. Delilah looked down and then back up, her pout still on her face. “You always do that.” She rubbed her forehead before putting her hands down.
She never thought before opening her mouth, unless the situation really asked for it. Ben seemed to be a little more serious. She wondered what he was thinking, but she didn’t intrude, Delilah knew going that far was rude not only that but he could block her if he wanted to. Delilah sighed lightly when he finally answered her but perked up when he also answered her mentally. A smile came on her face. Sounds good to me. Delilah answered backed, luckily she could keep their conversations a secrete just in case there was another telepath in the area, psionic shield’s weren’t hard to put up but then she only had to protect both of them, even their youngest brother, she’s never done anymore that two to three people.
Delilah chuckled after Ben’s comment. Her face then softened up hearing he hadn’t been getting enough sleep. Her eyes squinted looking up at his face, of course being in both college and having a job must’ve been hard for him, both mom and dad wanted him to be the best. They never pushed her because; well, because she was everywhere doing her own thing. Delilah brought her legs up to her chest and wrapping her arms around them, resting her head on her knees. “Eh, not really; just my daily exercising.” She shrugged, rolling her eyes. “Uh, I know Rebecca wanted to hand out today. But if you’re out here, we could do brother-sister bonding. I can text Rebecca and tell her to come over tomorrow.” Rebecca was a long time friend of Delilah who is also on the cheering squad, they’ve done everything together that Delilah considers her a sister. But when Delilah’s powers started acting out it caused a small rife in their relationship, but they’ve made up with Rebecca still in the dark about her powers.
Delilah then stood up and stretched, looking over at Ben to see what he would do, getting ahead of herself, almost as if Ben had already agreed to the outing that she had suggested.

She didn't even try to dodge it so it wasn't much effort on his part. But the feeling of success was still there, especially when she covered her forehead and gave him a pout. Yeah, he missed being able to do stuff like this. Actually he just missed hanging out with his siblings in general. But what could you do? "And you always make it too easy." he shot back to her with a smile.
After the conversation turned a little more serious, he had noted the small bit of disappointment from his sister before she smiled at his other reply. She really was interested in finding out about others. He really had no idea why she still had that on her mind. Maybe because it would make her feel less of a freak? Maybe she just didn't want to be alone? He had no idea. Sometimes he really did want to give her answers or just go hunt down other mutants just to make her happy but the more logical side of him refrained. It could probably do more damage to them than good and he really didn't want to put his family in danger like that. Not everyone would appreciate what they were. It was why they kept it from their parents. They really didn't want them finding out, in fear of how they'd react to it. He really just didn't want anyone to get hurt and no doubt dropping a bomb like this would have devastating effects one way or another. He sighed at the thought.
He looked down to her, an eyebrow cocked in confusion as she stared at him with her eyes squinted, not sure just what she was doing. You could never tell with her. She was always doing something new every time he heard about her. It was just a normal Delilah thing. If she wasn't all over the place then something had to be wrong. He smirked at the thought before she finally answered his question.
As usual, he felt bad about interrupting her plans. He should have known the two would be hanging out. He still was happy with the fact that they managed to remain friends with all these changes she's gone through. He kind of envied her for that. He lost most of his friends when he became distant as a teen, trying to make sure his powers were never discovered. "You really don't have to." he chuckled. "No reason why I should mess up your plans." he smiled, scratching the back of his head. Sure it would have been nice, there was no denying it. But it wasn't her fault they didn't get to hang out much so he didn't want her to have to change plans just to fit him in.
He looked up to her as she stood, noticing she was looking down to him as if waiting for him to join her. "I take that as a 'Shut up and get up, Ben,' huh?" he teased with a smirk before finally standing up, waiting for her response before speaking again. "Well. What do you want to do? Or are you going to change your mind?" he chuckled.

If I ever become more powerful, oh, you wait, I’ll always know when you’ll flick me! She looked away swiftly. Of course she could never stay angry with him forever, it was sibling anger.
Why find people? She wanted to see what the other people’s powers would be! How cool that would! They could help each other become stronger. But then, what happens if others aren’t nice and use their powers for the wrong reason. It was like one big conflict going back and forth in her mind. And then there was the unknown, the things the pair didn’t know about, so maybe keeping her mouth shut was better. Luckily she didn’t have a flashy power or else they all would’ve been in trouble because it was easy to keep her telepathy in check. An occasion head ache here and there, nothing that a dreaded quiet moment would fix the problem. Of course, Delilah didn’t hear the sigh that Ben gave.
Ben was trying to make excuses, or so it seemed to Delilah, after she said she could cancel her plans. She would rather hang out with one of the coolest people that she knows. They didn’t hang out as much as they did in the past and it made Delilah quiet upset at this fact. Summer seemed to be the only time they could find to spend time together, especially when he had days off from his job.
Busy whipping out her phone, she gave a quick apology with plans to make up tomorrow. Her phone went back into the pocket looking over at Ben, giving her biggest smile with a nod. “You are correct big brother!” She put her hands on hip, looking around; debating where they should go after Ben asked where they should and what activities they should partake in. Her attention went to the route that went to the food district of the town. Thinking about it she was going to get something to eat once she was done exercising, she found that eating before running made her stomach quite upset, so her breakfast would normally be delayed until now.
“Let’s go get some food.” She rubbed her belly, spinning on her heels to face her brother. “You’re going to pay. Right?” Delilah winked at him in a mischievous way.

'I won't believe it till I see it.' he chuckled though he wouldn't doubt her capabilities. She was getting the hang of her powers a lot quicker than he had at her age. Then again, for the first few years he tried to completely ignore their existence which wasn't the smartest idea. So he actually encouraged her to train. Just in secret. Of course her abilities were much easier to hide than his own. He smiled slightly at the thought. It was a good thing too. She liked to use her powers a lot more than he did.
He could tell she was kind of upset by his excuses which actually managed stopped them. Sometimes he did worry that the fact they didn't get to see each other as much was becoming a burden on their relationship. The thoughts that she could actually be mad at him at times over it had passed through quite often. Same went for their little brother. For his entire family actually. His father seemed to be glad he was out working hard but the rest of them seemed to want him to be around more which he tried so desperately to do. It was just hard and it was no wonder why he was so exhausted most of the time. But he never complained. As far as he was concerned, he had no right to. So he'd do whatever he had to to make everyone happy. Even if it meant being tired 24/7.
He watched as she pulled out her phone, no doubt texting her friend to change plans. He shook his head with a chuckle. Well. At least she still enjoyed hanging out with him. It lessened the worries. At least slightly. Then she turned back to him with that big, bright smile of hers that compelled Ben to smile back. "So bossy." he teased with a chuckle as he stood up and stretched himself, mostly out of still being tired rather than for exercise purposes however before walking up next to her, watching her look around for a place to go he supposed.
At the mention of food, his own stomach seemed to growl in response, reminding himself that he hadn't eaten for a while. As soon as he got off work he crashed in his room, missing dinner and woke up late to miss breakfast. He chuckled nervously, expecting a scolding. It was normal for this child of the family to get yelled at for not taking care of himself. It hadn't changed as an adult either. "Alright." he agreed before she could complain too much about it.
"Do I have much of a choice?" he spoke as he began leading her towards the food district. Of course he would anyway. Being the big brother and all. Not to mention he had a job so he had no excuse not to have enough money to treat them to a meal. "You owe me later though." he smirked playfully.

Maybe she should do that, but it was hard when she needed to guarded, one shock came when she meet up with an exchange student able to not only fully understand their language but also to speak it back to them, everyone was in a dozy until she stated that she was practicing for them, to help them feel more at home, ya know that thing that student council people were suppose to do.
Just as quickly as she sent the text Delilah received a reply from Rebecca. She playfully pouted but said that Delilah would have to make up big time tomorrow. Delilah made a comical frown to her brother when he pointed out that she was bossy. Some people thought that she was, but Delilah just wanted to go out and experience new things right then and there, she just picked the people to come along and enjoy the experience.
But then she never really knew what Ben had gone through, she’s been left out on most parts of his own experiences when he first gained his powers. Delilah never tried to force him to talk about his own time, but she knew he had a few same downfalls as her and even refuses to use his powers a lot unlike her, where it’s intangible and where she can share with a few out there.
Delilah flashed a big smile up to her brother seeing how he, too, wanted to go for some food. She didn’t see him at dinner time and then going out earlier than him this morning didn’t know if he ate breakfast before find her. Delilah couldn’t get mad at Ben, it wasn’t his fault he over worked. Take that back, there just wasn’t enough time in the day for a person with a busy schedule to actually do everything that the body needs.
“Hm, no, no you don’t.” She kept her smile but also chuckled at the same time. Once more she pouted playful. “Maybe now that I’m 16 it’s time for me to find a job.” She slyly looked away from her brother. Delilah actually didn’t know if she had enough time herself to worry about a job, seeing how she’s active in school. She wrapped her arms around his left arm as they walked towards the area of the Food District. “But since I probably won’t, I’ll let you pick where we eat.” Delilah looked back up at her brother with a small smile.

"Oh you'll get over it." he teased. He didn't mean anything though. Compared to most people he knew, she wasn't too bad being at being bossy. She was just a little more inclined to do things and drag people along with her instead of outright ordering people around like she ruled the world. He was thankful for that. These vacations home were much appreciated since he could get away from the stressful life away from his family. He actually wished he could do this more often. Perhaps it would make life less difficult for him. But it wasn't something he really planned on happening anytime and has accepted the fate.
At her smile he chuckled. She seemed to be glad he would definitely accept her offer. Sure he could go without if he wanted and foil her plans but he decided he better get it over with. Otherwise he was sure their mother would try to stuff him when they got back. He rolled his eyes at the thought before she spoke up, pursing his lips into a bit of a playful pout when she confirmed his belief that he had no choice. Why was he not surprised? Oh well. Nothing he had a problem with. He'd do anything for his little sister and she knew that very well. It was a wonder she hadn't abused this power she had over him. Again, just something he was really thankful for.
He walked towards the district, feeling her wrap her arms around his own as they made their way to a good place to get something to eat, chuckling as she mused over a job. "I wouldn't rush honestly." he admitted with a smile. No. She might as well enjoy the years. She was doing pretty good so far but he didn't think a job was something she needed to worry about. Maybe when she graduated. Their family was doing pretty well money wise so it wasn't like they were desperate for cash. Besides, her having a job along with all this other stuff she did would certainly make it hard for the two to hang out like this.
He couldn't help but smirk, knowing his sister pretty well it seemed. She didn't plan on her getting a job either. "I don't even know how you'd manage to fit it in that schedule of yours." he pointed out with a chuckle. "As for a place, you know I couldn't care less." he reminded. "So 'letting' me isn't going to do much." he smiled. "Wherever you want, sis. You know I've got it." he assured before looking around. "I might pick something that isn't too busy though..." he advised as he looked over to a crowded restaurant with people waiting in line outside. He never liked crowds to begin with but with a lot of people around he never felt comfortable, thinking his powers would slip. He had more control over his powers than he credited himself to. But he still worried over stuff like that. And chances of that ever stopping seemed pretty small.

He was right; she couldn’t and wouldn’t stay long for long at Ben. Their time would come when they would separate and she would go onto her own route in life and he would go his, sure they would come back together for the occasional family reunions when they would come up on their calendars.
Sure, Delilah was saving them from their most feared and over-bearing mother. But Delilah liked making it a game with their mother, just to end up making mom laugh and Delilah waltzing away without having to worry. That was just her luck unlike her brother with whom she’d seen her brother getting dragged left and right to do her biddings to keep him health; if someone wasn’t going to keep his health up, who was?
Delilah had to agree with him, she shouldn’t go head first with everything she had on her plate at the moment. “Well.” She stretched the word out. “I could if I tried.” Delilah would have to try very hard.
She looked around, now you would think finding a peaceful restaurant was an easy task, a lot of the place down here were pretty busy. Was it really that time of day already? But she spotted a good place. It was a little old fashion café, like the ones you spotted in the 1950s but have been spoofed up a little to fit into this era but only by a little. It was busy but not as annoying as most of the places around here, they sold breakfast at all times of the day, well that was Vanity Fare for you.
“Come on! Let’s head for Vanity Fare!” She pointed out to the corner café, a few people could be spotted inside, enough for good business but not much to have witnesses.

He wasn't sure if she just said it because she wanted to prove she could or because she was actually considering it. "I don't doubt it." he agreed with a warm smile. "But unless you're just desperate for cash, I don't see why you should add more to your plate." he shrugged. "Besides, you know if you ever need anything I'll help you out." he smirked. "... Not like I have much of a choice. Huh, short stuff?" he joked, bumping into her playfully as they walked.
As she searched out a place to eat, Ben pulled out his cell, checking for any messages or missed calls. He wasn't surprised. While he was asleep some workmates and even his boss had tried to get a hold of him. Figures they would on his day off. He sighed at the thought before shoving the phone back into his pocket. He'd deal with them later. Right now he really didn't want to worry about it. Maybe if he ignored it he could forget his crazy life at work didn't exist for the day. He really could use a good vacation.
He was brought out of his thoughts whenever Delilah spoke up, mentioning Vanity Fare. Compared to the other places, it didn't seem as busy. He nodded in approval. "Alright. Sounds good to me." he agreed, following her to the small café. It had been a while since he'd eaten there. Then again, it had been a while since he'd just eaten out like this. So he was sure it would be nice for the both of them. Too bad they couldn't bring the rest of the group. Oh well. It wasn't like they couldn't make up for it later.
Once they got inside, he looked around to see all the people within. Didn't look like there was anyone to worry too much over. Nobody suspicious or like they could cause them any trouble. The thought relaxed him and soon they were seated at an available table next to a window looking out to the busy streets. It was pretty quiet in here. Peaceful even. This further helped him relax. So far this day was turning out pretty okay.
"So what are you getting?" he asked as he looked over the menu. "Better not be expensive." he joked teasingly, obviously not meaning it. Of course just to be sure she didn't take him seriously. "Get whatever you want, sis." he assured with a smile.

And it was true; she was in one too many activities. But she flashed a large grin at his comment. “Man, you know all my tricks.” Her lips then thinned out, short stuff. “I could catch up on height if I wanted to.” Once more her playful frown came on after he bumped into her, making her bump into him also in a playful manner.
He agreed and it made her happy, they hurried up into the corner café, the murmurs of people talking over their meals were very low. On the other side of the counter was the owner, Brian, he looked up and clasped his hands together and smiled at both of them. Of course, both Delilah and Brian ignored the fact that Ben was looking around seeing if the area was safe or not. ”It’s so nice to see y’all back here.” he said, having seen them a few times. Of course, he would never forget costumers that would enter into his diner, as he liked to call it.
Delilah looked over at the man and smiled while waving at him. She then sat across for her brother, looking at the menu. Don’t get anything expensive, well easier said than done when being on a strict diet. She smiled up to her brother. “Oh, no.” She said in astonishment. “I’ll make sure to get the most expensive thing.” She leaned her head into one arm. She then looked up to a waitress who came up to take their order.
“I’ll have an ice tea and a chief salad.” She smiled up at the waitress, who was a little startled before she could ask the pair what they wanted. Delilah looked over at Ben and flashed a smile his way the waitress also looking over at the brother, waiting for his response.

But as soon as he was sure, he nodded towards him. "Nice to see you too." he smiled, glad that they had nothing to worry about here. It was why he didn't like going out like this as much. Not many people would appreciate powers and he didn't want to even think of what they'd do if they found them out. He was definitely going to keep his siblings out of harms way if he could. And you can be certain he'd do anything to make sure they were safe.
As they sat down and thought about what they'd get, he smirked at Delilah when she said she would be sure to get the most expensive thing. He rolled his eyes and gave a simple, teasing "Brat" just to annoy her before turning his attention back to the menu, trying to find something small. Because he honestly had no doubt in his mind that their mother would still try to make him eat as soon as she realized he hadn't eaten dinner or breakfast at home. He chuckled at the thought.
As the waitress arrived, Ben listened as Delilah spoke before she even had the chance to ask, surprising her a bit and Delilah caught the smile of hers before shaking his head with a chuckle. "I'll just have the potato soup and an ice tea too." he spoke with a smile to hopefully calm her. Once she took their orders and left them, he turned back to his sister, rolling his eyes at her. "I hope that's the worst you do." he spoke, being half serious. He encouraged her to use her powers but he preferred for her to not use them in public too much. At least as long as they weren't noticeable. Of course that one could be passed off as simply anticipating her question before hand.
He chuckled before sitting back, releasing a sigh as he looked out the window for a moment before turning his attention back to her. "So what have you been up to, Delilah?" he asked, trying to start up a conversation between the two. "Anything new I missed out on?" he chuckled a little sadly. Yeah he still hated not being around as much anymore. But it was times like this he tried to catch up on things he would have normally missed.

Although Brian did know that Ben could be over protective of his siblings, just like an older sibling should.
Delilah only stuck her tongue out at the playful phrase that Ben used, she then chuckled. The waitress looked down at her pad and wrote out their order, returning a much calmer smile from Delilah’s brother. She turned and left both to their own conversation, just like the other’s that were around mumbling about how their day was starting and what plans they had.
Delilah only sighed at her brother’s remark. “I can’t help it.” She sat up straight her brows pressed together, seeing the small amount of seriousness in her brother. “Plus, she probably only thought I already knew she was going ask. So, maybe it looked ruder to her.” Delilah slumped back down. Of course the questions that waiting staff always asked was predictable, so it wouldn’t surprise the waitress that much. Sometimes she couldn’t help herself but answer what people ask, especially if the question’s right there on the tip of their brain, it made it easier to answer than to wait for them to spit their question out. But Ben only had the best intentions for her when they went out into the public eye.
Delilah leaned her head into the palm right hand, staring at Ben as he sighed and stared out of the restaurant. Her brows puckered up as she thought about his question. “Nothing much, really; summers are so slow.” She sighed her boredness out. “Our softball team almost made it to regionals, but we lost the game.” Delilah pressed her lips, remembering the game that night; they were behind only three points. Of course, close games like that didn’t get her upset as much as games that seem like a major loss. “Other than that, I remembered next week was starting cheering for next year.” She smiled, that was the time she could use her energy for something good, not only that but they also got to talk about how they could bring in freshmen cheerleaders as well. “Other than that, there’s nothing really. It’s all mundane.”
“What about you? How’s work and college going?” She took her head out of her palm, crossing her arms over on top of the table.
