[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width, 500px] [atrb=style,border-top: 10px solid #4477aa;background-color: #222222;] 16 ✖ FEMALE ✖ PANSEXUAL ✖ MUTANT
✖Power/Ability Accelerated mental capabilities: Des processes an IQ that is off the charts, literally. Her capacity for creativity, logic, problem-solving, learning, applying skills, observation, and learning capabilities is beyond anything just “human”. While most people use just ten percent of their brain, Desdemona can use ninety percent of her mind at any one time, making her a tactical genius, adept at turning opponents' own abilities against them. Because of this her mind is always moving, to the point that in order to sleep she needs to take sleeping pills. She also forgets to sleep, eat, and sometimes can be found passed out from exhaustion because of her inability to turn her brain off. She also has what others refer to as “perfect recall” though this is simply an extension of her mental capabilities. She can remember everything that she has ever witnessed. This is not limited to visual recall, but also other sensory information that is visual, auditory, tactile, gustatory and olfactory as well as other dimensions. ✖ Personality She is ambitious and calculating, but also animated, impulsive and energetic. This makes it seem like sometimes she has two different personalities; while she can seem childlike and unpredictable, she can also be cold, driven and callous, mostly when she is going insane by her own intelligence. It's almost as if an affable, clownish Des is concealing an ocean of wisdom, seriousness and even darkness. Desdemona is a good person, but sometimes loses herself in her own intelligence, though this is because it hinders her more than it does well for her, especially when she interacts with others. She can become quickly sickened of people because of their inability to be as intelligent as she is. Des is a kind of sensual person, not being afraid of her body, and has a lack of embarrassment and sometimes could use a little bit of modesty. She often thinks herself smarter than others, and her behavior is unconventional. She never believes that she could fail, or considers the consequences of everything she’s done if she should fail. She considers herself, and all the mutants, to be a higher being, and that the humans need them to make decisions for them because they are stupid and naïve. At the surface, Des is a calm young lady. She takes all things in stride, approaching life in an easy going manner that suggests an affably relaxed personality. She is ineffably pleasant and open-minded. It's this casual sort of appeal and kind-heartedness that makes Desdemona easy to trust. But more than that -- people want to trust her. It's more than simply being kind, or relaxed. Desdemona has a magnetic sort of charisma and an eccentric mannerism that simply draws people to her. She is kind-hearted, but she is bold. She is generous, but she is clever. She has a natural yet unusual charm about her that combined with these seemingly noble surface traits, lead people to want to believe in her. In her own way, Desdemona Skylar is alarmingly, dangerously charismatic. Past these surface-level traits, things become different. Extended interactions reveal things slightly off about Des. She rarely, if ever, indulges others with her true thoughts. Though kind, she is emotionally distant, a fact that is hardly noticeable beneath the gentle facade of smiles and laughs. She enjoys toying with others, though this owes to a more playful and mischievous manner. She will dance around subjects and keep her plans and motivations entirely to herself. The closer she plays things to the vest, the less chance there can be for failure. ✖ History As a child, she was extraordinarily shy. When her parents would have houseguests over that weren’t common visitors, Desdemona would shut himself in her room, reading books that were far too advanced for someone so young. That’s just how shy she was. She was an only child, and so when she was spoilt, but she never needed to be. She always found a way to get what she needed without much asking. She was too shy. When she was older, her ability to open up to others surfaced. She became a lovely person to talk to and a lovely person to be around. It wasn’t known that this is mostly a mask she puts on so others will trust her and things will come to easier that way. She was eleven when she realized that she was smarter than those around her. She was a greater creature than what they were. Her interest in herself turned into fascination, and with a small science kit, she was able to test her own abilities and how far they went. There is no one that knows more about Des than she does. ✖ ExampleThe day had begun to wind down, sending orange streaks across the sky. The sunset looked like a gentle mixture of reds and oranges, as if the sky had watercolors spilled over it. The haze of the hot day still lingered, the warm breeze which blew into William's apartment gave the room some life. An open book's pages fluttered as the breeze picked up slightly, stirring William from his thousand-mile stare. In his hand he held a small trinket, white in color with wires springing out from the depths of the tiny object. William tucked the small mechanical piece into his pocket, turning to face a behemoth of a machine.
HOSPITAL. It was probably one of the more intimidating pieces of work that William had put together. Something more humanoid than his other works, highly unlike the twin super-computers that William had made years before. HOSPITAL was a machine with William's paranoia in mind- something that was meant to protect him as he found himself to be a fairly weak individual. HOSPITAL had only been in commission for a few months, though, before it was replaced recently by a man known as Matthew Maclaren. Though Matthew didn't look like much, he had something more to him than HOSPITAL did. Plus the sight of two men walking together was far less conspicuous than a man and a mechanical harbinger.
However, there wasn't a reason that William had to not continue to advance HOSPITAL's upgrades. Which is what the object in his pocket was for. The creation of HOSPITAL was an effort to have a soldier that would do what was asked of it without any hesitation, without any remorse. Something very much like William, who had been called heartless on many accounts. The created always reflects the creator, someone had once said to him.
William turned to face HOSPITAL, it stood still, it's one red eye watching its creator. It looked almost stoic, strangely enough. William smiled at his creation. He was proud of it, proud of what he'd accomplished with it. HOSPITAL had been hard work, but it was one of those things that had a special place in William's black heart. In a way, he loved the abomination. It was something that he made that was a weapon. Something very much like IT had been, but much more likely to stay in check. There was nothing like it in the entirety of the world.
"HOSPITAL, please open section eleven of maintenance," William demanded. HOSPITAL answered with a couple beeps and its chest plate opened, revealing intricate wiring and machinery. William smirked at his handiwork that had been put into the machine, and stepped towards it. "A labda driver for you..." William's voice trailed off as he pushed a small switch and HOSPITAL powered down. He then began to unhook an old piece of equipment and replace it with his newer version of it. The Labda driver, one that was specifically made to pick up William's brainwaves, was being put into the machine. It was a piece of work that was supposed to make communication clearer and easier for the maker and the made.
HOSPITAL did not stir as William made the adjustments, and the red eye that usually glowed remained dark and lifeless. It was a giant creature that could stand up to most superhumans. Its speed and endurance wasn't human. It was greater than that. Some companies had heard of this abomination that William had created and had begged for one for themselves. It was a perfect weapon for those in positions similar to William's. But William would never give the secrets of this technology to anyone.
From the other room, something loud rang out, making William jump. He wasn't able to get the labda driver connected properly before he teleported instantly to the corner of his room.
"Maclaren?" He called, his eyes narrow in suspicion, "Maclaren, is that you?" This character is played by [Alias Here].
