Navvi is a hyper-advanced robotic construct developed by the DNCS to combat the Non-Human threat. As it currently stands, Navvi is the only one of its kind and is still closely monitored by its operators and technicians. An incredibly powerful machine, Navvi is still supposed to be bound by a few restrictions. For one, Navvi is incapable of communicating with any other electronics or computers in any way beyond normal Human means(Keyboard, mouse, etc.) or a special connection plug only available to the DNCS technicians. For two, Navvi is basically a glorified talking cellphone in that its not supposed to be able to do anything beyond its programming or what its told. For three, Navvi isn't supposed to be fully sentient.

DNCS[/u][/color] - The majority of Navvi's time is spent in a darkened room deep in the Research and Development department of the DNCS, hooked up to various machines and computers so his recent activites can be datamined or his programming can be deciphered some more.

Most of the functionality of Navvi's nanobots are understood by the operators, however the higher-level porgramming is pretty much an unknown to everyone in the DNCS. Navvi's artificial intelligence and discrete nanobot control algorithms were developed by a very reclusive and mysterious scientist whom died just prior to Navvi's activation. No one really knows who that person was or how they accomplished near-sentience with Navvi, but a sizable portion of the department's budget goes towards trying to figure it out. So far all they really get back is meaningless digital static.

Strangely enough, unbeknownst to any others, Navvi is acts very differently around the DNCS newest hire to its project, Gianna Taylor.

When taken out on field ops, Navvi is often accompanied by an agent or a cadre of operators in a mobile base. It's not very often that Navvi is left to its own devices.

*** The operators trust Navvi to report back anything and everything after its been left on its own in the field. It is a machine after all, why would it lie? Besides, they could just jam a plug in it and extract the information anyway. However, Navvi has been holding back what it has been doing while on its own, both verbally and in its memory banks. In essence, it HAS been lying to the operators, and they have no idea about it.

This is also true with what Navvi has told Gianna. When alone with her, Navvi is much more "relaxed" and "natural". It even has admitted that "It feels like something or someone else is its head".

Mutants - Navvi's primary function is to, of course, serve as a force multiplier against the Non-Human threat. Capture is preferable to neutralization unless otherwise ordered. In that respect, Navvi is a lot like a police officer. It'll give its target about ten seconds' worth of opportunity to surrender, complete with countdown, before it starts to use force.

*** After an encounter with a electricity-wielding Mutant on the docks, it would seem that Navvi has a strange interest in Mutants, specifically their abilities.

Humans[/u][/color] - As a machine, Navvi possesses no relationships of any kind nor any desire to have them. The lone exception seeming to be the aforementioned Gianna Taylor, with whom Navvi has confided quite a few things that would shock the other operators.[/color]

First, I'm assuming any further Lee/Navvi interactions will "wait until Thunderdome is done" to take place. LoL. xD

For Cassidy, I was going to toss her into the Navvi demonstration thread. Then Fate beat me to it, so I figured I'd wait. ...Then Fate went MIA, and I thought, "well, maybe..." and then Gianna appeared, so I was like, "well, hell, we'll wait 'til later." LoL. I guess, aside from that thread, I'm wondering how exactly they would be able to interact in terms of missions. Since Navvi doesn't connect to electronics, would he even be able to receive wireless communications from a Handler? I guess I'm not completely clear on Navvi's electronic restrictions, at least with regards to that. I suppose, if he's not being placed on the front line of a mission that requires Cass to be closer to the field team due to the remoteness from HQ in location, they could interact face-to-face there. e_e Maybe I'm fishing a little bit with that.

Thinking about potentials involving Miriam, I would imagine her organization is either already aware of or soon to be aware of DNCS' new "secret anti-mutant weapon", due to informational exchanges between the two organizations. That would certainly pique her interest in the android, but I doubt she'd immediately resort to direct observation, unless his presence somehow compromised her interests. That being said, chance meetings could take place during Miri's nighttime adventures, or if Navvi came to the casino to observe. I'd imagine, since she isn't a mutant, he wouldn't be interested her in the slightest, however, unless she were to appear as an ally or obstacle to him in one of his missions. e_e;

Yeah. The point is that Navvi can't use wireless communications in the sense that it isn't built into it. The technicians were too afraid of a Skynet-esque situation wherein Navvi's highly advanced programming would "leak" into the rest of the world. So Navvi isolated electronically. However, Navvi can still use things regular people would use, like phones or headsets. So they could easily just give it a bluetooth. As for meeting face-to-face with Cass, that could be arranged somehow. I mean, Oscar out in the field with Navvi in one thread.

Navvi would take the most notice of Miriam if she somehow interfered with a mission or an op. Unless you're feeling up to meeting with the Navvi that, so far, only Gianna knows. But that would require some thought and finagling.

Ah, ok. I wasn't sure if he'd even be allowed a communications device. LoL. As for Cassidy, I can imagine entertainment value face-to-face or via distance communications... or, as in the aforementioned case of a "remote" mission, a combination of the two: face-to-face en route and on arrival, then over the wires once the operation begins. I imagine Navvi matter-of-fact/minimalist responses successfully frustrating her as a Handler, which is a reversal of fortune for what typically happens. >_> That could potentially grant Navvi points with other DNCS folks simply because it's against Cassidy. not that it would care. Haha.

For Miriam, I believe a meeting in the field will, at least to begin with, have her appear as "questionable", insomuch that it probably wouldn't be clear until further along in the situation that she can be successfully identified as having aligned or misaligned intentions when compared to whatever Navvi's mission happens to be. Since she'll be assessing the situation, she would have to determine, from observation, whether whatever mutant(s) are involved should be deemed threats or rescues, per "Guardian" descriptions. As for meeting the "other side" of Navvi, that could potentially come from the same scenario or post-scenario, depending on how it plays out. That is, if she deems the mutant(s) in question necessary for either detainment or disposal, she'd be passing that information along to DNCS anyway - it's not like her organization has anywhere to "hold" the "bad seeds", after all.

I imagine outside the city will be good. I don't have a concrete idea at this exact moment... burned quite a bit of muse today. LoL. I'll see if something comes to mind as I zombify for a little bit... since I also just found out I destroyed the NAPLEX and, within 7 or so days, will be officially licensed for pharmacy in Florida. Still gotta reciprocate back to where I actually am, but ... woo. Will update here if I come up with something.

Hrm. Just throwing some ideas... maybe a mission involving what is thought to be a pair of mutants... one that controls insects that, by themselves, aren't much of a threat but that can turn dead matter - corpses and the like - into bombs, and one that can teleport both itself and a handful of others by touch. The beginning of the mission in an infiltration into wherever this pair is supposed to be holding out at, and on-the-fly intelligence reports that they have friends with them - probably non-mutants and expendable - that can work as cannon fodder. The problem occurs when the insect mutant lures DNCS forced and Navvi in, and sacrifices his "buddies" to set up a hideous bomb trap. The other one teleports out to assault the intelligence location where Cassidy and a handful of others is. e_e I dunno. Haha.

I can work with that. I think you'd have to be in control of the Tangos though because I don't really like controlling both sides of the fight. This can also be another opportunity for Navvi to "observe" the powers of the Mutants too, like he did with Leann on the Docks.

Alrighty. Does that mean I need to control the other DNCS NPCs as well? e_e; And, since we don't have one, I'mm message ze Grim and see if we can get a "generic" "Outside the City" type of sub-board for threads like this. I think the chances of activities happening outside the city are high enough to warrant just a single board addition....
