Home, finally home, he managed to luckily drag himself and avoid all those jerks today, even school was relatively safe. He felt today was a pretty good day all things considered as he walked into the near barren apartment. It was paid for with the insurance from his mother and he kept only the bare necessities for living. I wonder how long this little happy streak will last? I'm due to pay for it soon after.. he didn't like sounding so damn pessimistic but brief happiness had a track record of biting him in the ass very shortly after. Taking the still-warm ramen out of his backpack and eating it on the bare floor he found it abit comforting that he had nothing to really worry about losing as all he had was a futon and a light with school books piled next to it. This brief moment of solitude was abruptly interrupted by a bang at the door and the sound of familiar voices. Ones he dreaded hearing more than anything. It was the voice of Keisuke and his little group of juvie criminals, who regularly belittled and assaulted him for the little money he did have. "HEY YOU LITTLE SH*T! WHERES THE PAYMENT?!!" he banged on the door more and more. Rain cowered into the corner and didn't move, hoping the silence would bore them and make them believe he was somewhere else. The banging only continued to get louder with the boys grunt of effort as the door was kicked down and they looked around for a second before seeing Rain in his cover, shaking slightly from the fear he was feeling. Oh god...ohhh man he looks pissed. I'm really going to get it now! Rain tried to move out the way but the fists met him sooner than he expected. He was beat until he couldn't feel his limbs anymore and then he saw the boy light a cigarette. "I'll make sure you pay up Rain ya lil' shit. Or you won't live. Matter of fact, you just won't live." Rainus saw one of the boys pour some liquid infront of the door before Keisuke threw his cigarette and then he knew it was gasoline as the flames quickly engulfed the door. I have nothing left now. I'd rather burn than have to experience this pain of losing again... repeated through his mind over and over again as he was paralyzed from fear as the flames danced and licked across the ceiling and walls and floor. The primal mind was taking over from his fear and was making him yell "Heeelp" before he realized what was going on. Firetrucks and such wailed in the distance but the fire was already closing in on him.... WC: 466 Note: Fire and smoke are billowing from his apartment and are spreading across the complex so it shouldnt be too hard for her to spot .

Amita could smell the smoke before she could see it.
It billowed in massive, rolling black clouds out of a single apartment down the block. Amita's face paled. She whipped her bicycle around and shot for the apartment, hoping the residents had been able to get away from the flames. She barely acknowledged a group of thug-like boys running past her. As she pulled up in front of the steps, the fire loomed above, cackling maniacally as only fire could.
Then Amita heard a sound: a distinct plea for help was coming from the building, floating on the wind. Without a second thought, Amita jumped off her bicycle and ran up the stairs. The smoke caused her to choke and cough, and the heat lied as it tried to caress her skin. Then it was all gone.
Phasing, Amita ran through the door and disappeared inside. The smoke passed through her, but she was still surprised that the heat was still as intense. She dashed from room to room, until she heard the small cry again.
The kitchen, she thought. As she entered the room, Amita saw a boy, no older than 15, sitting in a corner. She approached him cautiously, arms extended. She knew she was completely visible and looked very solid, so there was no way he would be able to tell she was phasing. Looking closer, she saw bruises spotted across his arms and face as he cowered from the approaching flames. Her heart broke for him, and she held out a hand for him to take.
"It's alright. Come with me; I'll get you out of here," she softly crooned. As he looked up at her, she noticed a wild, feral look in his eyes.

It was building up inside, whatever this thing was since he was too busy being in absolute fear to even save himself, then he saw something coming through the flames, a woman who spoke to him softly and reached out her hand. Reason wasn't important and he grabbed her hand and somehow they got outside, he couldn't believe what was happening, but that were just walking through things and falling objects, even though they appeared completely solid to him. Coughing briefly to get the smoke out and air in as they quickly sat down outside, all he could manage was a "Thank you..." before looking at his burning apartment. He couldn't take it anymore, all they did was take and take from him, he had nothing, absolutely nothing left. He looked like he was going to cry, but it was too much.
"I'll kill those bastards. Kill them. Kill." the fearful look on his face and eyes were once again replaced by the feral one, but this time the "other guy" was coming out in full force, his eyes changed to a yellow color and his muscle mass grew somewhat, all this along with his almost haunched over stance once he got up gave him the appearance of a madman. Only sharp breathing remained, no words as he walked slowly towards their location, tearing them apart was all that it was focused on doing.

As Amita pulled the boy through the fire, she caught his eyes. He stared at her with a confused look as they passed through wall after wall. She focused on their destination.
Finally, they reached fresh air. She didn't stop until she felt they were a safe distance away, on some wet grass. As the boy collapsed beside her, muttering a "thank you," she watched his expression carefully. Pain was written on every inch of his face as the fire from his apartment reflected in his eyes. The fire seemed to consume him on the inside, and as she watched, he looked violent.
His voice erupted from his lips, snarling so viciously Amita could only make out one word: "Kill." His eyes shined gold, and his body seemed to grow. He staggered to a standing position, his shoulders hunched forwards. Amita stepped back, for a moment feeling something she hadn't felt in a long time: fear. Pushing against the feeling, Amita couched down beside the boy, touching his arm and phasing the rest of her body as a precaution.
"I'm sorry about your house. I lost my home too. I lost it when my mother died." Amita looked down at the grass, then touched the boy's arm. "It's okay to feel sad. It's a natural feeling we were all born with." She paused for a moment. "Even a freak like me has to feel sad sometimes..." Amita curled up in a ball as the grief she had been running from for a year suddenly surfaced. She didn't ask for her power. It was small and handy, yet compared to some things she had seen recently, it was almost nothing. This boy had power and strength that she would never have. For a moment, she didn't feel strong at all. I'm just someone who avoids trouble; probably because I wouldn't be able to handle something bigger. She felt so weak and unreachable, and as a result her whole body was automatically phasing.

He felt a touch and heard the girls voice crack slightly, which calmed him down enough to return to his normal form. "I-i-i'm sorry." Her mother had died too? This felt much too familiar to him, the grief stricken look across her face as she balled up slightly. But she didn't freak out about his power, a power he couldn't even control. "I just wish th-that i could control this power somehow. All it wants to do is destroy!" He sat down next to her and closed his eyes abit, focusing within his mind and calming himself down. "I lost my mother too. I can't remember too clearly what happened, but i know it was my fault somehow." He suddenly felt a tad lighter than usual, probably from letting some of the pent-up guilt and stress seep out abit.
"I want to control this...thing...this power like you do..miss?" He never did catch her name, and he was still reeling from the shock of his home and the few belongings he had being burnt down. School could wait tomorrow as he had more important matters at hand. "Would you help me?" He needed help with this power since he could use it to raise the funds needed to get another apartment eventually.

Amita paused and listened to his voice, no longer an angry snarl, as he explained part of his situation. She looked up at him and nodded.
"My mother was my hero. She always encouraged me to use my power every day until I could control it. It's become so natural for me now; I use it without thinking. Now,whenever I feel helpless or scared, my body naturally phases. But that's the only time it happens without my control."
She looked at the boy and examined his small burns that joined the many cuts and bruises across his skin. "My mother also enrolled me in several martial arts classes. 'It's good to be able to defend yourself without having to rely on your power,' she'd always say." Amita paused. "I can teach you some moves if you like."
Being on her own for almost a year had made Amita really appreciate the self-control she had over her power. It was very useful; she could walk through rain without getting wet, she could make quick getaways through back walls, and now she had learned that she could even walk through fire. She wasn't too sure how she could help the boy control his feral state, but perhaps if she taught him to defend himself, he wouldn't be so quick to change.
Amita decided that she would stay with him for now. He obviously had no home, and maybe no family by the looks of it. She didn't really have anywhere to go or anything to do either. Maybe this is my purpose, she thought. Maybe I'm supposed to help others control their powers.
