✖Power/Ability
Illusion Manipulation
Airi can trick people into perceiving unreal things, illusions are not tangible, but can be very realistic to subjects. For example, as a result of his obscure sense of humor, he seems to find it amusing to appear to others as a person of the opposite gender, or on occassion even making out that his forearms down to his fingertips are that of a panda's, thus clearly displaying his hugely childish, seemingly immature tendencies. His method of doing so is as such: Airi can generate illusions which last, and are entirely real, as long as the targets do not know that they are illusions. One with this ability could cause any type of illusion they desire, but the second that someone calls out “It’s not real!”, shakes subjects out of their deluded state or the subjects see the illusionist working his power, then the illusions will wear off, entirely (or until the user can go unnoticed to use his ability again).
Illusions can be created through mind control, although this only enables him to see within the mind of another, and control their train of thought, and can only control their actions through this method, and the individual still retains the ability to resist and do something completely different to what Airi planted into their minds. He can, however, cause them to think of nothing but what he wishes them to, possibly even to the extent of causing paranoia.
A branch of this would be his particular 'gift' in maniplating the emotions of others through his illusions, and very much favors inflicting the illusion of fear upon those select individuals, as well as sense the emotion. The victim’s perception is altered, they may see their environment as ominous and the user as dark and foreboding, or even seen as a monster. Can augment the effect to make others go near insane. The effect expires within one to several hours, unless maintained by the user of the power. In extreme cases, he would be capable of also paralyzing a person in fear or kill them by giving them a heart attack, although this comes with maturity and he is therefore currently not physically able to kill people outright.
Other branches of his illusion manipulation are:
Bliss & Horror Inducement-
The user is able to make people feel extreme pleasure or discomfort. Used as a weapon, this power can effectively incapacitate victims with weakness and nausea.
Hallucination Inducing-
A faculty of Illusion in which one can induce psychedelic hallucinations in subjects at will. This ability psychically causes the subject's imagination to overact, resulting in paranoia and delirium. This ability may even cause the foe to feel as though only experiencing that which is pleasurable to him instead of what’s actually happening (called the Rose-Colored Glasses Effect) or the like. This ability has no need for the user's imagination; the subject's mind does all of the work (and has a compelling sense of the hallucination’s reality).
Altering Appearance-
Not exactly being combat savvy he uses hs ability at times as a defense mechanism to camouflage himself, and even appear too those around him to alter his physical appearance to look like someone or something else, whereas in reality it is merely a collective illusion, in the sense that all or most present would be subjec to the same illusion. This is one of his most favoured abilities, as well as one of his most used, although more for his wn enjoyment rather than anything else.
Phobia-Initiated Ability Manifestation
Another favorite, right beside fear inducement. He can appear to turn himself as well as his direct surroundings into almost anything as long as their target fears it. The shift is only temporary, however, causes a great deal of strain to keep going, and the second that the someone calls out “It’s not real!”, shakes subjects out of their deluded state or the subjects see the illusionist working his power, then the illusions will wear off, entirely (or until the user can go unnoticed to use his ability again). ✖ Personality Often, his most noticeable trait is his incredible naivety and general childish outlook, due to the fact that he chooses to iscolate himself from most, save for a few ndividuals he likes to refer to as friends. Note that naivety, however, does not equate innocence; in his case, nothing could be farther from the truth.
Airi is generally a very quiet and mysterious boy. He is seen as a "man" of few words, although his range of expressed emotions is far from being even more limited, often times calmly displaying his amusement when speaking to another in an almst patronizing manner. When he does talk, he says only what is necessary and does so in a soft spoken manner. He’s not one to raise his voice about anything and figuring out his actual emotions is difficult if not next to impossible.
The only time Airi can actually be described as vocal is when he’s complaining and criticizing others. He criticizes everyone, and will openly tease others as he so wishes, with no regrets whatsover. Most of his humor, even, comes at their expense. "Them" being those he secretly deems to be below himself, which is more or less the entire teenage population of his home city.
Airi finds it impossible to hate anyone. That isn’t to say he doesn’t get annoyed by others, but he doesn’t experience what would be considered hatred or loathing. His outward expression around those he isn’t terribly fond of remains neutral, though a frown is only arginally more detectable, or even at times an ovely amused smirk, which generally never fails to baffle most, as at times of rage his anger would generally be converted into a sense of mild amusement, in a deliberate attempt to further provoke another, thus leading back to his apparent childish outlook. Or perhaps, his behavior could interpreted as cynical, or critical, and is perhaps a sign of an intellect that exceeds that of his age bracket's average. He is, of course, a rather reflective and disturbingly observant, and naturally his ability to enter and manipulate the thought process of an indvidal through implanting select illusions in the stead of parts of reality, enables him to understand an individual to a much greater extent than they originally intended. Also, his choice of clothing is rather notable, for example his panda hat, which seem to make him the personification of "cute," thus gving him an almost naive and helpless outer appearance, and deliberately so.
When he’s forced into the company of others, Airi can be quite polite and almost pleasant to be around. He forces himself to show the slightest hint of a genuine smile (in contrast to his standard, which he seems to display without any true emotion other than mild amusement) at others’ jokes though rarely makes any himself unless at another's expense. While not much for small talk, Airi makes for a rather good debate partner and will challenge the opinions of others without reserve. He can sometimes seem to take sadistic pleasure in watching others struggle to make good arguments and become aggravated.
✖ History
Airi was raised in the Japanese city in which he currently resides, in the same house, pretty mch doing the same thing daily, the details of which are so overly uneventful that it would be boring to recall.
Though he wasn't on the rich side of life he lives comfortably in a small house with his parents who worked late and different hours, making it difficult for the family to be fully together. He didn't get to spend time with both of his parents at once often, but the rare times he did they would go out and do something special just for the occasion, although if he was honest with himself he was by that time beyond being completely bothered by the fact. He had, of course, long since realized that if he put his standoffish attitude aside to make room for a calmer, seemingly more agreeable behavior and wore an attire that clearly showed the character he as meaning to portray on a 24/7 hourly basis, he would recieve much of the attention that was denied to him by his parents from others, for example his school teacher or the old lady in the library. Sure, his much loved panda hat was far from being considered "cool" in the opinions of his peers, although they had soon learned that despite his appearance, he wasn't one to be challenged. He was an active child and very smart, reading, walking, and talking at an age earlier than the other children, after all. A naturally gifted child, even. He collected books rather than footballs or whatever it was that the stereotypical boy was supposed to collect, became overly attached to a particular homemade panda doll and loved to immerse himself in the nature that was unfortunately far from his home, collecting flowers and going on adventures, and was completely uncaring of what labels other children would procure from his behavior for him.
He's never been one for sports, never felt the need to join any clubs at school, and has only ever played the flute, which at times of extreme boredom he will actually use it, and so he could easily be percieved as an uninteresting, boring, even child. And more so now that he is older, in the sense that it has become clear to most that he very much prefers to stay at home, by himself, however will welcome a friend over ever once in a while, and even go as far as to leave the premesis and do something that the friend would deem "more interesting" with them.
In all honesty, his entire life has been little more than perfectly normal, and is rather proud to say so, thank you very much. Although at the same time the recent gradual development of his seemingly supernatural powers came so very gradually that by the time they had developed to the extent of his realization of their presence, he was all but ready to accept them, being overly fascinated by the use of them, even from the beginning and though through trial and error he has learnt a little more than the basics of his abilities, he still has yet to unlock his full potential, or rather as far as he is concerned.
Still learning to use them, he does test them (mostly at school), often though in a manner that is for the most part rather subtle, and can be easily incorporated with his general personality; through speech, which he uses to mention a topic in particular as though it has sprung up as a part of a casual conversation, while also using it as a base to implant something loosely related into the back of the subject's mind, which then grows until it dominates the thought process of the individual, more often than not in a way that strongly advises them to act in a particular manner, which considering that they can think of little else encourages them to do as Airi wishes, however the subject will always possess the ability to resist, either consciously or otherwise. For example they might question why exactly they feel the urge to act in this particular way, or perhaps they could have been distracted by something else, in which case the train of thought that Airi had previously implanted would be forgotten.
