It was funny how things always seemed to be written instead of simply memorized if truly important. Religion, at least when it came to prayers and oaths, were practiced continually and hardly ever forgotten. Yet the need for them to be written was still required. It just hardly seemed proper for important things like that to have to be recorded, let alone simply to be forgotten and left to gather dust in the shelves of a barely crowded library. The need for books was slowly coming to an end, replaced with computer technology. Somehow, it didn't feel the same. To hold knowledge within ones hand, to be able to feel the text under ones fingers and observe someones findings directly. It was a sight that showed care and concern for what their works meant. Now, you could simply glance over a copy and paste version on a screen and not give a damn. It was insulting, a crime against the writer and people themselves. In the end, technology would be the world's downfall and the blame would fall squarely on themselves. Nobi knew this, she had already seen it through her own findings. People were lazy, computers were advancing and their knowledge growing. Their influence in culture expanding to the point that people couldn't survive without the latest version of something that only came out a year ago. While she had nothing against the use of advance resources, Nobi could truly do without it. Of course, that had only been the case for two years now. Before her life started, before this change within her, she was just like everyone else. Normal, content, struggling. Her parents expected the best and she could only ever give half of that. It wasn't her fault, there were simply too many things wrong with her genetically to improve. In truth, she was a product of bad chemical imbalance, caused likely by the alcohol consumption of both her mother and father during her conception. Shut up...Her mind was rapidly moving again, connecting ideas to facts about herself, giving reason to things best left unknown. She didn't want to know, she hated knowing. There was no point to it now, they were gone. Her parents weren't coming back. They would never know her brilliance and if she was lucky, no one would. Eyes closed, her hair hanging just slightly over her left eye, Nobi released a sigh as she sat in the corner. In a library barely full, in silence aside from her thoughts. The boy was hunched over a table. His crimson cape was balled up in his raggedy trouser pocket; he couldn't wear it in public, not yet. He was still the unknown, an outcast; all of this would soon change once he proved himself to the general public. He had taken care to make himself look neat and tidy, but his clothes were still fairly dirty. He didn't smell, but he wasn't clean either. Just another one of my trials, the child prodigy ponders. He was intelligent, very intelligent (although not 'enhanced'), despite his various immaturities. In front of him where a bunch of somewhat related books on various forms of biological sciences and theories; texts on evolution, genetic make up, cell structure, protein synthesis and random variation. He also had several religious texts, which he was scrolling through. He had no doubt he was an incarnation of God, but could it not have a biological basis all the same?
He was pondering on a theory; perhaps his incarnation as the next form of God was benefited by various mutated protein/enzyme combinations. He could have modified tRNA-amino acid complexes that synthesised the type of proteins he required to wield the latent power of God, perhaps new codon/anticodon bonds. He knew that, with practice, he could potentially create worlds - but first he must dominate this one, and show the cruel how evil they truly were. Only he had the power to do this, and the motivation to fit.
Shinji ruffles the pages of one of the texts. This was the Holy Bible, the Douay-Rheims translation - the Proverb 18:10 The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the just runneth to it, and shall be exalted. The Child God thought this was most apt for his own goal; to protect the just from the cruel. He had read other translations, but this version was the one which most suited his own style.
He closes the book gently, before twisting to another book he had yet to open. He had done some research in other towns, and knew that his power was known as psychokinesis or telekinesis, using the power of his mind to manipulate reality. However, no studies had shown any true results - most were old wives tales or simply lies. Shinji was still searching for others like him, his mind scientific; if there were others out there, then he might not be the latest incarnation of a deity.
And where does that leave me? His voice probes in response to the line of thought.
"Shut up," he murmurs to himself, quite loudly in the silent library. He flicks open the book; Thoughts on PK. He flickers through the theories; mentions of the complex and wide array of 'uses' of Psychokinesis including object manipulation, matter conbstruction and deconstruction (transmutation), spontaneous ignition or freezing of atoms due to a forced change in vibration, extended lifespans, teleportation (Shinji raises an eyebrow; he believed this had happened several times, during periods of great stress), physical metamorphosis, and thought projection/recieving. Some of this sounds familiar
Of course, his very existence was already an opposition to supposed physical 'laws', including conservation of momentum. He had, of course, observed that perhaps the energy of his being caused an increased acceleration in some cases, and that movement was not just spontaneous - but other aspects of his power were still beyond his explanation.
He continues to ponder, rifling through the pages of theories and technicalities of supposed 'PK' abilities...

Her advance knowledge was something that almost came from no where, yet that could hardly be the cause as nothing just appeared out of air. There were always facts to back it and to find answers, there was always a trail. But, the girl had yet to learn just where this trail was. But she was aware of one thing, there was no way she could be the only one. It was a hunch, or possibly even an educated guess. But if she was capable of developing such power without real explanation, there was no doubt that others could have done the same. Yet, research was not her goal of that day. She was simply attempting to act as normal as possible. Being in the library, while very much strange for a teenager without homework, was still considered normal in society standards. Standing up from her table, the young girl began to make her way to another row of books to pick out her next read. Yet, as she looked through it, she noticed a large stack of hard-cover textbooks behind her, resting beside that of a teen. The works were indeed very advance, something she hadn't seen many students of his age range reading...other than herself anyway. Turning around, the girl picked out one without warning, opening it as she looked through some of it's content. "Interesting....Human Evolution....Of course while many would think that the start of the great change was around the late Cretaceous period, its more likely that it was as early as the Paleocene. This is likely due to the global change in which the Earth was in the midst of the Continental drift of it's land masses. That being the case, it makes sense for survival to kick in to allow primates to change to adapt to their new surroundings and locations. Lest they freeze or burn or be eaten by the things bigger than themselves..."Glancing over the binds of the book, the girl quickly realized what she had done and blushed as she set it down. Talking like she knew it all, while in truth, was not normal and she wasn't helping herself by doing so in front of a completely stranger. "I'm...sorry....I'll...just leave you to your studies....Though they are interesting. Especially how you seem to be trying to connect them within interlocking theories. After all, the possibilities of another such change is highly possible within our life time. With the changing of climate and advances in technology. Of course, whether it will be for the better remains to be seen..Oops..."Covering her mouth, the girl just stood there in shock.[/style] [style=font-size: 10px; text-align: center;]TEMPLATE BY SAMARECARM OF OTE + BTN[/style]

Shinji shifts slightly, alarmed as the girl makes her presence known by abruptly picking up one of the books on his table. He begins to frown as she begins to formulate her own theories on human evolution, although they were probably somewhat informed. The young Vulpes was surprised at how fast she had generated and recalled the information, a small smile appearing on his thin lips. He could already tell she was greatly intelligent and inquisitive, her intelligence possibly being above even his own.
He smiles further, when she apologises for interrupting, then grinning further still when she continues to ramble on about his study. He was surprised about how she had linked the books so quickly, although she had so far neglected to mention the various religious texts he had compiled. He had no doubt she would mention those if he permitted, but he interjected before she could say any more;
"Impressive deductive skills, I am indeed interested in the future of human evolution. I would suggest that humanity is unlike to evolve much physically in response to climatic change, as we can merely adapt our infrastructure - the glory of mechanisation at work." He does not continue with his line of thought through speech, but continues in his head: However, if we do not adapt because of evolution, then why have I adapted? It must be an act of higher power.
"The evolution of humanity was primarily to allow for protection of offspring, a side effect of which was the use of tools. We can now develop new tools at such a rate we may not need to adapt physically. Then, perhaps, it is a case of random genetic mutation if we should evolve in future, a rare case in the animal kingdom - a change in genotype which leads to a positive change in phenotype, eventually leading to a change in species as a whole."
He pauses, glancing at the girl. "Hm. Perhaps you could deduce why I have gathered such an array of books?"
