Evron then sat next to the laptop and sighed. A few minutes passed before he finally decided to fish the thumb drive out of his pocket. He kept this bad boy with him at all times, even going to his computer science buddy to hook him up with a secure computer. It was time. Evron took a deep breath as the computer booted up, after that he hooked the drive in. A window popped up asking what he wanted to do so Evron opened up the file. It was filled alright with all sorts of information. Everything that a person would want to know. Evron wiggled out of his jacket and chunked it somewhere behind him; Evron was in too much awe about this. “Here we go.” He clicked on the first file. It popped up an Excel showing mutants they’ve captured so far and how they were doing. The next showed different Word docs which were just reports as to how each experiment was going. Once more he pulled up another Excel which showed a list of mutants that have died. Evron leaned back in his couch, the A/c kicked in, the whirring was very quiet. But children were heard outside, laughing and running up the stairs. He sighed but once more looked into the folder. There were videos of mutants being tortured and experimented on. Others showed people being injected with prototyped viruses, each kneeling over and dying none showing resistance to it. Other videos showed what these scientists were trying to do, having videos of DNA being taken apart and put together, each showing improvements from the last video. A good amount of time had passed. Cheese and rice, he was sure he would now have a big, fat, red X on his back. Not unless he was low on the ranks were he wouldn’t be noticed. Evron stood up and stretched, he didn’t realize how tight and rigid his body was until now. From where he stood he looked down to the thumb drive. Better now than later, it was time to call Tristan. He went around the couch where his jacket was at and dug in one of the pockets. He took out the thumb drive and typed the number in, hearing the dial. Tristan Caine was awake.
His eyes snapped open and his brain waves shifted in seconds. It was a small part of his training but a handy trick. No coffee required. Hieyes rapidly scanned his surroundings, first without moving. Clear. He sat up and got his legs under him and stood on the dingy rooftop of some office building. Certainly not big time or there would have been a heliport. Not that he would have chosen it if there had been.
Inside his mind that roared to life like the precision instrument it was, he calculated. Calories, water levels, activity, hours slept, muscle flexibility, effects of sub par body care, and a hundred other things in another few seconds.
Conclusion: Muscle weakness, dehydration, loss of mental focus, sleep deprivation: Acceptable. Operator is "up" and mission ready.
He snapped open the phone that had woken him and memorized the number. It could only be one of two people.
"Hello?"
Not the most spy sounding greeting but hey, he just woke up.

It was unusual to just hear a simple hello from the other person Evron slowly blinked but only shook his head. “Yes, you said to meet up when I’ve looked over everything.” He stopped for a moment looking out the windows of his apartment, they over looked into the parking lot, a group of children and a mother passed by, looking like they were heading for the pool that was in the center, ready to feel cool in the chlorinated waters. “All I have to say is that you’re digging one big hole for us.” There was grim tone to his voice. But deep down he knew it wasn’t Tristan’s fault, it was the people who assigned him to find this guy. Then again it might not have been anyone’s fault; maybe it was just fate that leads him to this route. So far he hoped he was under the radar from those that reside over him and that it stayed like that for a while. Evron rubbed the back of his neck. “How about you meet me up at the park? I know that a lot of places aren’t safe, but at least it can busy there.” He shrugged despite the fact that the operator couldn’t see it, it’s out of pure habit. The park, that was the place where he had met his ex-fiancé, she had a on a beautiful crystal necklace, it matched her eyes that sparkled equally if not the same. Thinking about it, how did he remember from that split second before he plowed her down from his game of ultimate Frisbee with his buddies; possibly from love at first sight? She giggled and he easily blushed. When was the last time he blushed? Probably was when he would always look into her eyes, which were the last time. Now he hardened up a little and his job could do that, probably not as much as an operator, but just as a field agent it could. Evron shook his head, he had to pay attention. But his thoughts tugged back to her, was she safe, did she get out of town or was she still wandering around. Maybe they had her? No, no, no! All of this couldn’t be real and he allowed her to get away when he should’ve reported her to DNCS. Evron resisted to facepalm himself. The park was a tactical conundrum. On the one hand, it was crowded and open. It left you hard to spot and any direction to run. One the other hand, it was crowded and open. Made it nearly impossible to spot potential threats and no matter which way you ran if they had an eye in the sky you could be followed. The young agent hadn't lied. This was one hell of a hole.
He moved through the crowd, in it but not of it. He moved with a grace that quickly put him dead center at the park standing in between a cotton candy machine and the ice cream trailer. Caine's senses were doing double time with his surroundings. He had bumped into 41 people, there were roughly 238 - 254 people present, he had three paths of escape that offered cover, two that offered concealment, and one that offered both which would be the most heavily watched. There was a sewer but there was no telling if it was being covered either. Afterall, the DNCS knew how he worked. Made sense they'd cover whatever they thought he'd go for. All of this was, of course, dependent on whether the DNCS even knew he was here.... It could drive you nuts, thinking like this.
He shook his head, clearing his thoughts away with a violent twist. His thumb and forefinger rubbed his eyes. What made all this more difficult was he had no plan. But he hoped he could change all that today.
He could suddenly smell a familiar brand of smokes.

He had a cap on, hiding his eyes. The park was crowded; guess that’s what happens when kids were out of school. Evron wasn’t even that precise as an operator or a veteran when coming into areas like these, all he knew is that almost every place has a double edge to them. He eyed the park; he tried finding Tristan, slightly curious if he would even come. He pulled out his favorite pack of cigarettes and started one while waiting. After a while, he looked across the way, was that him? It looked like him. He slowly walked around the people reaching one of his new contact. Maybe he should think of something witty to see if this was really Tristan. Evron stopped a few feet away, he eyed side to side, and no one seemed suspicious. He opened his mouth but shut it again, thoughts streaming through his mind. “Can we fight against Big Brother?” His head tilted towards Tristan, some people knew who Big Bro was, a simple slang for the government and hopefully he would understand that it was also for DNCS. His heart raced, this couldn’t be right, but with his hands stuffed in his civilian clothing, he felt the thumb drive and the number etched on it. This was some deep stuff he was getting in. The moment he removed Tristan from the bar to speak to him, it slowly started to change his life and there was nothing that he could do. Fate was at work here.
