[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width, 500px] [atrb=style,border-top: 10px solid #4477aa;background-color: #222222;] TWENTYNINE ✖ FEMALE ✖ BISEXUAL(?) ✖ HUMAN
✖Power/AbilityAs a human, Cass obviously doesn’t have anything in the realm of “super powers”, but she does have some skills at her disposal that are useful to note. Marksmanship (Handgun) – As one might expect of someone “in the military”, however honorary/arbitrary that may be, Cassidy is “proficient” with handguns. Her particular sidearm, a battered Walther P99 (11-round magazine, .40 S&W), is the one she is most familiar and, thus, most comfortable with. As required by her status, she visits the firing range to practice once per week, but her ability should only be classified as “adequate.” She’s no competition or sharp shooter, but is competent enough to protect herself, if necessary. …So long as she’s sober, mind you. Precision and accuracy fly far and away out of the window once she’s inebriated, and 9 out of 10 times, she wouldn’t even remember to take off her safety before trying to fire. Once upon a time she knew a little about rifles, but she hasn’t even so much as touched one since basic training. Martial Arts – Once upon a time, Cass took great pleasure in both the practice and spectacle of a variety of combat arts that could fall under the blanket category of “martial arts.” In her youth (and thanks to her family’s money), she had the benefit of traveling and receiving some aspect of training in a variety of them. Most prevalent, when she is sober at least, is standard aikido for self-defense. Her favorites to watch? Oddly enough, sumo (which she still tries to catch when she can) and capoeira (which is one of the ones she found herself quite bad at, seeing as how she lacks natural rhythm.) The most interesting thing about this, however, is the one that a) she is best at and b) is directly responsible for her alcoholic status. (Ah, the ways in which one loses their innocence…) She is exceptionally accomplished at drunken kung fu and, while hammered, is a very dangerous, unpredictable opponent that should not be underestimated. …Just don’t ask her to try any of it sober. She won’t know what you’re talking about. (And is that a claim or the truth? One can only wonder…)
✖ PersonalityAs described by those who see and/or interact with her on a regular basis, Cass is… laid-back bordering on irresponsibly apathetic. Her acquaintances and co-workers (since she really doesn’t have actual “friends” at this point) believe she is depressed, and there is certainly some veracity to that. Her habitual tardiness to her post and her inability to show up without a hangover also play into this. On the other hand, her ‘apathy’ has the unique benefit of making her seemingly immune to stress, and she is always able to keep her cool, regardless of the situation. This is of major benefit when it comes to assessing situations and delivering orders to those she is in charge of coordinating in the field. In truth, Cass isn’t cold-hearted – she does, indeed, care. (She wouldn’t fund/participate in an “Underground Railroad” type setup for mutants otherwise, would she? See History.) Her past experiences have simply convinced her that showing enthusiasm or “getting involved deeper” only leads to pain and disappointment, in the end. Some might remark that she’s “aged beyond her years” mentally, at least, since she doesn’t look “aged.” She does possess a touch of sarcasm, and if someone manages to actually get close to her, it becomes clear that she enjoys teasing banter. In terms of sexuality, she was primarily heterosexual, but two failed marriages and the influence of alcohol lead to alternative bed partners during her 26th and 27th years. Her current status is unclear, as she hasn’t engaged in any sort of “romance” in two years, and, despite her looks, doesn’t think she’s what anyone is looking for. A few other traits: Despite her work reputation, her written reports are always exceptionally thorough and she is always quite concerned, at least internally, about “the details.” Apathetic or not, she never blatantly ignores individuals and she is surprisingly easy to approach. Finally, she is a cat person – she has 4 of them and, truth be told, they probably get better care than some children get. It should also be noted that her drunken persona is far more whimsical and engaging than her sober personality. She is also far more likely to entertain questions about herself and her past, and may engage in ridiculous banter with individuals outside of her “circle” (which, as mentioned, is currently empty.) That is not to say that she is careless while inebriated, but she is thought to be a much more “fun” person to be around after a few drinks. (Except that whole kung fu thing. That’s… scary. Potentially.) A summary of likes and dislikes follows: Likes - Cheap white wine (Drink of Choice “after hours”, though she always has a flask of heavier stuff on her. Note: she does not discriminate against any type of booze, though she isn’t a big fan of “girly” drinks.) - Cats (…and she’s becoming that weird cat lady, it seems.) - Sleeping - Dark sunglasses - Having a chauffeur, a maid, and a chef in her house Dislikes - Alarm clocks/having to be “on time” - Cell phones (she averages 1 broken phone per week) - “Haters” (an extremely large, subjective category in her mind) - Sports Mascots (They’re creepy.) - Physical labor (such as yard work, ect.)
✖ HistoryCassidy Marie Morgan – heiress to the fortune created and maintained by her great-great-great-grandfather’s legacy, the Morgan-Manitoba Medical (M-cubed) Group; a pharmaceutical giant that made its initial fortune from the panic that ensued following the unknown virus outbreak in the past. At that time, the company was primarily a distributor of wholesale medications and medical equipment; today, it is well-known only within the medical field, primarily concerned only with direct drug development. Regardless, it is an extremely successful, profitable company – and not a lick of its business success is due to anything even remotely related to Cass herself. Her name is on the company, and she is the benefactor of the wealth and the life of luxury it provides, but Cass isn’t even a figurehead –she wouldn’t make a very good one and the company has no public face in any case. Still, by name and law she owns all the “rights” and thus, a portion of all the profits. In all honesty, given her current reputation, both she and the company feel such a relationship is “as mutually beneficial as it can be given the circumstances.”
But who is Cassidy? To answer that question, one must first look to the past and see who she was. Saying that she was a “spoiled brat” does not begin to explain just how privileged, wild, and irresponsible she was. To begin with, she was an “accident”, as her parents (Maria and Reginald) were far too consumed by their own lives to have even considered having children. When it became apparent that she was “on the way”, an “executive decision” was made to let money raise the “inconvenience.” As such, Cassidy was raised by innumerable caretakers (due to her penchant for being so disobedient, self-important, and downright hateful to them that she quickly drove them off), received the majority of her schooling via frustrated (but well-compensated) private tutors, and spent the great majority of the first 18 years of her life abroad. Liberal use of seemingly limitless funds lead to all sorts of experimentation, with the only actual discipline coming by way of her personal interest in various martial arts. (She loved the bloodsport and, unlike with her “required” tutelage, welcomed the strictness that her “chosen” masters provided.)
Plenty of stupid decisions were made during this time, with many of them currently being known only to Cassidy herself. One particularly public problem, however, was her marriage, at age 17, to the then 34-year old action movie star Nathaniel Reynolds. A man with worldwide popularity at the time, the marriage proved devastating for him, as public opinion did not appreciate his “taking advantage of a wealthy minor for his own personal gain.” Even worse, the marriage lasted only 6 months, as Cassidy’s whimsical interests took her to other parts of the world and other men. The result was an extremely public divorce that lasted nearly as long as the marriage itself had and, ultimately, it destroyed the actor’s career and credibility. Cassidy’s lawyers went full force (despite her rarely being present) and effectively stole nearly every dime Mr. Reynolds had, thusly securing themselves (and Cassidy) a small fortune. Less than a year later he committed suicide – something that continues to haunt Cassidy to this day and, fortunately or unfortunately, took the majority of the wind out of her sails and “brought her back down to Earth.”
Following that disaster, Cassidy was forced to come home and, finally getting a measure of her parents attention, she was made more than aware that she lacked any “real” skills, could not be “beneficial to society in any way”, and “most certainly would not be running the family company.” Thus, other than a clause that kept the rights to the company with the family name and forced a (hefty, largely unwarranted)profit-based pension to be provided for her, Cassidy was effectively disconnected from a family and company that she had never really been connected to in the first place. Due to her family’s influence (specifically, financial donations) to the government, she was given a “chance” by being unceremoniously thrown to the military. With no other choice, she ultimately took boot camp and basic training to heart in the same way as she had martial arts in her “past life”, and managed to advance along enough to become a communications coordinator (i.e. the voice over the comms from base camp) for a variety of groups (she was bounced between units primarily to ‘protect’ her from seeing any actual action, as per her family’s wishes.) It was during this time that she allowed herself to be courted by Roman Gregory, a semi-important politician that held very anti-mutant ideals. Why this relationship even began to work is anyone’s guess as, despite essentially securing her family’s fortune, Cassidy was very neutral on the “mutant” situation and, as far as she knew, it was simply the creation of “fantastical people and message board trolls.” Likely, Cass’s looks and the money that she was tied to sparked Gregory’s initial interest, with Cassidy’s neutrality on anything relating to “mutants” and her apathy towards politics in general inspiring a “challenge” to convert the girl. It didn’t work… but he managed to get her to say yes to a proposal of a different kind. Luckily (for his sake), he also made sure that when the “end” inevitably came, he wouldn’t lose everything to lawyers.
And the end, indeed, came – directly due to the complications that occurred from the untimely deaths of Cassidy’s parents. Although she had never been close to them (in fact, she had nearly been disowned by them), the unfortunate crash of the sight-seeing helicopter that took her parents lives once again shook her. Although her ‘livelihood’ had previously been taken care of, the political financing aspect of the flow of her parents’ money inadvertently fell on Cass’ shoulders. Thus, the marriage she was in suddenly became like an internal, in-house political campaign with her husband attempting to convince her to give him her money while shoving his own ideology down her throat – all while she was supposed to be grieving for family members lost. Her split with Gregory came very soon after that and, as if to spite him, she hired a separate financial specialist (nameless for now, perhaps someone else’s character later? The individual came highly recommended, but Cassidy has never directly met him/her, communicating only through audio conferences where the individual operates under the alias “Guardian.” Read below!) to parcel out various financial contributions to a variety of different groups – none of which were affiliated with Gregory. Ironically, this also caused her to develop a more sympathetic view towards the subject of “mutants”, which was eventually identified by the one she had hired to manage her political funds. From “Guardian”, Cassidy became truly aware (or, perhaps, “convinced” is the right word) that the mutant “issue” was very real and she was encouraged to ‘seek out more information’ via her position within the military. Due to the careful movement of finances which granted her far more importance than she should have had, she found her way – still as a communications coordinator – into one of the government’s many mutant hunting groups and, truthfully, what she learned (and, ironically, helped facilitate) troubled her greatly.
Taking this information back to “Guardian”, it was decided that she continue to act within her current “career”, and let her money – as managed by “Guardian” – create a “better alternative” than what the government and its hunters offered. Thus, Cassidy is actually something of a double agent, though she is rarely in a position to gain any “heads up” information for mutants already targeted by the government. Instead, she indirectly provides assistance to those running or in hiding, with the special care of not linking the assistance back to her taken care of by whoever “Guardian” is. This is a tenuous situation, with potentially dire consequences… and yet, it does not directly bother Cassidy. Perhaps it is her way of “making amends” for the individual terrors she, herself, inflicted on those in her past. Regardless of her motivations, she continues on, offering direct assistance to those that hunt and indirect assistance to the hunter’s targets. She fully believes that, one day, she will be discovered playing both sides and, perhaps rightly, assumes that this discovery will cost her her life. Such a risk curbed her involvement, aside from the money funneling, at first, but recently, she made a decision that could be a critical mistake. At her own request, she was given the location of one “safe house” that her contributions help fund, and has, for the first time, knowingly come into direct contact with “mutants.” How, exactly, this has affected her internally is not clear, but she, at least, believes she has made the right decision – whatever it actually ends up costing her. (It shall be assumed that she has visited the safe house only a few times before her first appearance on the boards, so she’s still “digesting” it, so to speak.)

I figure the mods are off based on chat participation now that I've gotten around to finishing these two profiles. A point to note is, Leann's gotta wait, due to ban and a need to post 10 IC posts with Cassidy first, and that's cool and nicely explained by Grim to me in chat earlier. =) Secondly, I have some... vaguely mentioned stuff with Cass in terms of government/military mention. It's vague on purpose because I don't want to interfere with potential story mod ideas and was hoping for some direction on the groups/units Cass might be associated with as I post this. The "Guardian" thing is also vague and... hopefully, meant to be taken by someone else and run with. e_e Hopefully. And if not, we can probably just have it killed off or something behind the scenes without it making a presence known or... whatever else might be needed/useful depending. Just let me know. =o

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width, 300px] [atrb=style,border-top: 10px solid #4477aa;background-color: #222222;]ACCEPTED!
She looks wonderful and I see no reason why I wouldn't be able to accept her! So consider yourself in, heheheh. Just fill in the face claim thread and you're good to go! Also I'm glad that I was of some help to you. ^^ Yep, maybe she and Michiko may have to meet sometime! >3 Also, I have sorted her into humans as I was not entirely sure if she is government or not. If you think she'll fit better in the Government class, I'll change it though. :) |
