So. What was it now? 8 or so...summer...sun should be going down about now, yeah? He got up from his nap. He needed some rest every night, since he had... well... late nights sometimes. He geared up. Naked. Thermal underarmor...heh, stretchy. Socks... the grippy kind. Body armor. Had to protect from blows, stabs, and gunshots... Kevlar with nice steel plates on top. It'd stop some things, and he had plenty more. On top of that.. skinny black jeans and a tight red hoodie, with a sweet-ass 'Deadpool' logo on the front. Red Converse hightops, ooh sleek. Fingerless gloves, black ski mask, black snowboarding goggles. Two gun holsters with Glock G17's sitting pretty in 'em. A .44 Marlin 1894 CB and two glinting katanas on his back, bandoleers of ammunition and throwing knives, a dagger strapped to his thigh, and maybe sexiest of all, an extendable and retractable hidden blade. Don't ask, he figured out how to do it while playing Assassin's Creed. Anyway. He ascended up the fire escape and to the top of the building, took a breath, and ran, hopping from asphalt on one building top, over the concrete edge, and tucking and rolling at the right time, keeping the movement going, run run run And slow down. Scale down Go down down the building, into the dark alleyway beneath. Dirt hit his soles and he knew he'd be ready for anything. No gangsters were here yet... they surely would be, this was a dirty neighborhood. He hid in a box in the meantime, watching for any thugs to walk by. He'd scare 'em into telling them where their boss was cooped up... Yeah, for sure. They'd been terrorizing the place too much. If they didn't talk, heads would roll. Or maybe there was more than one hunter about those streets.

From there he stepped down swiftly from his second floor apartment and to his car. It took him awhile to get to the area considering the after work traffic, but there he was slowly pulling around. If he was lucky there would at least be a few more agents there. But this is one of the many things they did. Time was never really their friend, most of the people he knew from work were single only a hand full were married and/or had children. It was easier to not be in a relationship considering what they did. Only a few days ago had he gotten information about what mutants were truly being used for. Evron still couldn’t believe it, they’re recreating the virus that happened long ago. He parked his car, listening to his air conditioning unit of his car. Ahead of him would be a group of housing he would infiltrate when given permission. But for Evron he would rather scout the area to see how these people. He stepped out of the car, it was going to be a hot night, Evron could tell being in the jacket. He didn’t want to shock anyone in this part of town or, well, any part, it’s easier to be undercover, to be like everyone else and that changes once people would see a weapon on hand. By that time everyone has to freak out be it running away or getting a weapon themselves. But there he was, just walking around, minding his own business, but keeping an eye out for anything suspicious. Anything could pop around the corner right? Naw. Some thug popped out from nowhere. He looked.... thuggish. Denim jacket with ripped sleeves, black shirt with some skull logo, piercings all over 'em, tattoos, and a cute mullet, and some chin hair that made his disgustingly swollen chin look like an old man's... you get the picture.
Well he had to be doing something, right?
So Vex watched as the man crouched down and drew his knife, sharp blade, ready to stab, to pierce. Oh but he'd get another piercing today, ahahaha! Ahem. Anyway. Finally some old lady walked by. AN OLD LADY! And he took her by the arm and pulled her into the alley, covering her mouth.
"Give me your money!" the thug shouted. The old lady stared in shock. "Give me your money or I'll kill you!"
Okay. Time.
Vex popped out of his box, Glock 17 drawn. He took off the safety and cocked it as he moved, 'til he had it pointed at the guy's head. "Let her go."
The old lady didn't take chances. She ran.
"What the fuck?" The dude whispered, clenching his knife. Ready to strike?! Vex slammed the barrel of his pistol down on the guy's head. Dropping the knife, he held his temple as he went fetal. "Who are you? What are you going to do to me?"
"Vex. And... You're gonna tell me where your boss is hiding out. Or your brains are gonna be all over this alley. Splatter."
"...holy shit man, I don't... I don't have a boss! I just needed so--"
Vex put his dagger against the man's throat, backing him up to the wall. He turned the safety back on and holstered his gun. "Tell me now."
"...Please, man, please..."
A slice and a turn. Couldn't have the blood getting on the outfit, that'd be nasty. He let the thug bleed out in the alley and then threw him in a dumpster. Meh.
Unsuccessful, he guessed. He walked some distance away and took off his goggles and ski mask, and put them, along with his guns, swords, and knives, into a carrying bag. He slung it across his back and walked out of the alley and to the right.
And that's when he ran face-first into the government agent.
"Sorry sir, I--"

The kind that told people to run, it whispered in the warm, summer air. Evron wouldn’t run though, pretty good chance he would get fired if he ran from his duties. But he perked up when he saw an old lady running for her life, Evron’s arm tightened close to his gun, enough room to get and shot but also far away so people wouldn’t freak out. Still a beginner at this job since he had only been on for a few years, he still held onto his trigger ways and some people loved to point that out to him. For a few moments there was nothing as he held still. Where the heck was his back up? Or did he even have back up? Dammit, his department always did this to him, first with Tristan and now with this. What else did they want to do to him? But in a group with a crazy lady? He highly doubt that. Wanting to shake his head and chuckle he thought against it. Evron released his nerves only in time to get ran over. The boy apologized to Evron. He looked down at the boy and then to the alley way. It didn’t add up to him, why would a boy even bother to be in the alley way? “What where you doing in there?” He asked in a steady voice, trying to have a still demand. Evron’s eyes narrowed down in suspicion. His hand went up onto the boys shoulders. “It’s dangerous to be in this area, too. You should be home.” Evron’s voice held even. Well, crap, there was a boy there, which would make this mission a little harder to work with. Should Evron just take him home and then drive back here? The citizens were meant to be protected. "Haha, I s'pose you're right... kind of dangerous around here."
That wasn't too suspicious was it?
This guy seemed... odd. And intimidating as fuck. Most people weren't that firm. Regardless, it looked like Vex was going to get off without too much trouble. He could surely just play it cool, and the guy would ignore him... what was up with that guy anyway? He seemed so stiff and forceful.
"I should really be off," he said, and started walking the other way. But lo and behold, the old lady he'd saved had not run too far off. Which was kind of a bad thing; he didn't want to be recognized.
Anyway, as Eli turned away from the man, the old lady walked up to him. "You saved my life in there, young man. Thank you. But where did you get a gun?" Hahahaha well shit.
Eli's eyes went wide and the blood drained from his face. "Just... doing my part," he said, faking a calm. He took off at a sprint back down the alley, and immediately started scaling the wall. He put his goggles back on as he did so. It was almost... inhuman how he moved. Like fluid, except flowing up the side of the building. Hopefully the woman was mystified and the other guy had somewhere else to be.
He dove into a dark room on the second floor and unzipped his bag, putting everything back on. Guess he'd return home by rooftops again. He needed to get to the top of the building first--he'd use an inside staircase. So he opened the door from the dark room to the hallway outside.
He'd make it, probably... that is, if the weird guy who'd stopped him didn't open the back door to the building he was in and go up a single flight of stairs. If he did, he'd be standing riiiiiiiight in front of the door as Eli opened it.
...that'd suck.

Evron then looked up to find the elderly woman was still there. Why didn’t she run away? She looked over to where the pair was at and walked over. Evron eyed both of them, now this went to a different level. Gun? A boy his age, sure maybe for hunting but to shot someone. Evron then looked at Eliot whose appearance changed. He was pale and seemed a little nervous. Suddenly the boy was off, just like that. It wasn’t normal and it wasn’t human. Evron was off, going into the alley the boy went. Evron brought his gun out and pointed it towards Eliot, he only had a chance and he couldn’t let it pass. The boy was then gone, Evron’s head whipped around looking to guess where the boy would come out. It seemed like he was enhanced, Evron had a deep dislike for those kinds. He went for a random back door, it bearly just opened, here he had to take a chance. Evron held his gun up and here he was right. The boy, now in some dorky suit was about to run into him. Well, here went the quiet evening Evron was hoping to have. But at least this was one person he could help, that would be until he figured out what was happening to ever capture he would take back to his department. Ahaha, so, he... did.
"AAAAAh holy bejeezus dude, put the fucking gun away!"
He screamed that out, shocked that the guy was there. Some kinda fuckin' teleporter or something. How'd he gotten from the street to there so fast? And why did he follow--well I mean there was a good reason, he supposed.
Anyway, he didn't like how he walked. Didn't trust him.
Fucking guns, man.
In his shock, he sprang backwards. He landed on the balls of his feet and, absorbing the impact, put some of the force into his kick. His foot would connect with a major tendon in the guy's arm if all went well, loosing his grip on the gun. And if it didn't, hey--either way, the kick was a bit of a distraction from the fact that Vex drew his own gun, and aimed it straight at the guy.
"Who the fuck are you?"

He wasn’t the healthiest either, but at least he did smoke as much as most people in the office, but he had been criticized for smoking anyway. It was like a comfort really after his break up. It happened so quickly, his green eyes widened up. The boy jumped back from shock, bully for Evron but he didn’t expect the next park, his gun flew out of his hand. Man, if this was a cartoon he could just whip out another gun from the unlimited supply that the animators could draw up but sadly it was the real world and that didn’t happen. As he looked from where his gun dropped, Vex had one pulled and on him. “No, no, no. I should ask who you are. Mutant.” He bitterly said. “I’m just the one who’s going to take you back to home base.” Evron tried to think of what this boys abilities could be, the only thing that came up was enhanced. Well, if he wasn’t in predicament, he could call for back up, but was being shot for grapping his cell phone really smart? No, no it wasn’t. “Now, put your gun away.” He didn’t realize that his hands sprung up from his shock, his heart was in his throat, but he sounded oddly calm; despite seeing the boy as a boy who was now, in Evron’s mind, a mutant. “It’s cheating.” Evron really didn’t know if he should put his hands down, but he did remember from self-defense teachings is that open palms meant he wasn’t going to hurt the other person, some psychological thingy. Well the gun thing had certainly worked. Funny, he totally could've died right there.
...he couldn't put himself at risk like this. Even if his parents were long gone, there were people that cared about him. Delilah... she'd be devastated if he turned up dead.
The guy was certainly shocked. His hands had raised automatically, a sign that he realized he was completely fucked and had no way to defend himself. Well, unless he intentionally did it... but due to the genuine surprise he'd had at his gun flying out of his hands, it was doubtful.
Hold up. What did he say?
Vex stared at him as he talked. Mutant. Home Base. Cheating.
He kept staring at him after he was done.
Staring, trying to figure out if it was some clever ruse. Talk up a storm and wait until his guard was down. Didn't this guy know that wouldn't work on a guy dressed up like Deadpool? Ah, he probably didn't even know Deadpool... old... fucker.
Ohhhhh. Mutants. Like... X-men and shit. Was it some X-men joke? No. This guy wasn't joking.
"Mutant," he said, letting the word out with a stifled laugh, "Like. Like wait, you think mutants are real, and that I am one?" He laughed aloud now. "What... the fuck. I mean that's a major compliment I guess. So as for greetings, my name's Vex. But I know you're trying to get my guard down by... saying stupid shit. So I'm not lowering my gun until I get some... answers."
He thought about kicking the guy in the pants, but... then again, he seemed calm. He seemed smart enough not to run or attack. He didn't need to be treated like shit. Besides, he was wearing a nice suit, and Vex respected that.
"Who the fuck are you? Who are you working for? And explain this mutant shit, or... this hallway gets a new coat of paint. I'm not tolerating you goddamn thugs terrorizing MY city anymore."

Did he think this was a joke? Well, if Evron was in the dark than yeah he would see it as a sick joke. Evron’s eyes narrowed, not in suspicion but that fact that this was still a joke. So the boy wasn’t boy anymore but Vex, he didn’t seem sure about this whole situation, which Evron had run into where he had to apologize to the people and move on with life. But here, now even Evron was thrown off balance. He couldn’t tell what the bo, er, Vex was thinking thanks to those goggles that he threw on, but he was planning something. And here came the barrage of questions, deep down Evron sighed and rolled his eyes but he didn’t show it. “Hey, can I get a smoke first?” Evron was always polite to ask first, always unsure of how people would react. He slowly reached into his jacket, where if one looked very closely they could see the outline of the box. He slipped one out and placed it into his mouth, not lighting it yet until he got answer. “Well, you call me Agent Doe.” He said, remembering that’s what Tristan called him, so why not keep up with that identity? “I work for the government.” And that wasn’t a lie, he did work for them, just in a department that was supposed to be held in secrecy. He was told he would have to die first before telling anyone about the DNCS. “As for mutants. Well you know, superpowers beyond human capabilities, breath fire, read minds, move items.” He stopped for a moment. “Crystal manipulation.” Evron now stuck his hands into his pocket, rolling his unlit cigarette between his lips. “Kind of like X-men, yeah like them.” He nodded slowly, he enjoyed them in his youth, when everything was fake and it was fun to be imaginative. A smoke. He wanted a smoke. And he was so calm, not even worried in the least that he could die. Maybe he thought Vex hadn't ever killed anyone, but regardless... he wasn't putting up a fight. He was being intelligent and rational about this.
...So he wasn't that threatening.
He was willing to answer questions. And he already did.
Vex turned the safety on and lowered his gun, though he kept it in his right hand, at his side. He relaxed.
"Oh. So... Doe. Explain to me, the government is--oh, you can smoke." He smiled. He didn't smoke, but the guy surely had the right to. How did the guy know he wasn't a mutant, then? Vex still didn't trust him... "So you guys are capturing these mutants. I mean I tend to trust the government, though I don't think it's doing enough--but why do these mutants need to be taken back to... home base?"
He called it home base, right?
Eh, anyway. Vex watched Doe as he rolled the cigarette around in his mouth. Should he trust Doe? This could all still be a clever little game, a way to get Vex's guard down. Convince him of trust and then beat him to a pulp. Doe didn't even cast a sideways glance at his gun, where it had gone. He'd react slowly, and perhaps he knew that.
Vex was convinced he could overtake the guy, even if his guard was briefly let down. He knew enough about fighting--it was pretty likely he could tell if Doe started to even THINK about attacking. Muscles tense up and release... eyes dilate... facial skin stretches. There were certain tells.
He... trusted the guy. But the trust could be quickly broken.

If he were an operator or a handler, Evron could’ve been a pretty fearful person, one who could lack some emotion and fight pretty well, probably pretty healthy, too, no smoking. The boy lowered his gun, Evron heard the click of the safety go on, that was an accomplishment on Evron’s part, inside he settled, but was still on the bad end of the stick his gun was still somewhere on the ground, but he never glanced that way, that’s how people got shot and today wasn’t his day. He nodded at the permeation of Vex; he dug into his pocket and pulled out a bic lighter, bright red, very plain. He lit it and looked up at the boy, thinking about how he was going to answer, he had to be careful, and his neck was on the line. He pressed his lips together, he sucked in and the tip of the cigarette became a bright red with a touch of yellow. Evron released the smoke and it went up and evaporated. “It’s hard to explain, I’m on the bottom of totem pole, so, I really don’t know.” He shrugged, a lie but also the truth. But then looking through that flash drive, he knew a lot more than what he did before, so then was he lying. Aurg, too many moral issues and not at the right moment; he would rile his hair up if he could but he wouldn’t. “Mutant’s get tested to see how their powers are active or activated, somewhere on that line.” He rubbed the back of his neck. “But, we’re like a side project, if you could say that. Being a lackey is really sucks. I mean, look at what they’re getting me to do.” He took his cig and tapped the ash off. Was he pulling this off well? Evron only had to play cool, get the boy to trust him, and then what? Was the boy playing coy? Well crap, this was the greatest standstill ever. What stupid bullshit.
Dude's talkin' about mutants. Like they're real.
Vex didn't like it, not one bit. Vex was fixin' to shoot this guy in the leg.
"Your name's not Doe," Vex started, "but I guess the rest could be true. If mutants are real, the government's gonna want to know when they get their powers, and what those powers are."
He holstered his gun. Retractable knife was still definitely an option.
"And I'm sure that's all you do. Say you get some kid who can, say... go nuclear, or control electricity, or wind, or somethin'. You're telling me you guys wouldn't use that kid for some kinda power plant? And say there's some guy who's basically a born killer. You're not gonna chain him up in a little room? Bullshit."
He pointed at the guy, then down. A forceful sort of accusatory gesture.
"Unless these mutants are actively hurting people, I don't see a reason why you guys should get away with this. If they are? Shit, I'll help you."
He looked a little bit frustrated. What was he feeling?
Oh. He said most of it. He stared at this agent guy, and wondered what this 'side project' really was. He wondered if he was going to die for having this knowledge. He wondered if the agent still suspected him as a mutant. He wondered if this whole thing was some contrived bullshit, just a way for this guy to get out of an untimely death.
Vex didn't really know why he needed to be killed, anyway. Probably just some undercover cop.

Evron then sighed, so he couldn’t get away with being called Doe. “Ok, I’m Agent Glower.” Vex put his gun, win for Evron, the situation was getting better. “Well, shit, if a kid could be nuclear, he would be last person I would want to pick for as a pick up mission. But you seem to get the idea. Spit fire, super strength, etc. But I have no idea were these people go, I tire them down and then the bigger people come and pick ‘em up.” He stopped for a moment, thoughtfully looking at Vex. “I’m guessing since this is all news to you, you’re just stronger than others.” He said more than questioned, sometimes some situations called for that. “See, the mutants we take are hurting people! We just whisk them away before the media can catch any wind.” He threw his cigarette down and put it out with his shoe. Of course, Evron didn’t really know that they were just taken innocent kids, like the mission that he was on tonight, but these were thugs who would use their powers to get what they wanted unlike others who just thought they were awesome for being different. Wait, Vex was willing to help out? “Well, if you see any signs.” He took out his wallet, fishing for one of his few business cards. “This has an email and my cell phone.” Evron handed it to Vex. Would sending a boy out, who had no clue about mutants be safe? The boy seems to know how to use weapons, so he would be safe, but Evron would rather speed to his side to help just in case. Huh.
"Huh."
(He was not a very complicated man.)
"Well... I mean." He popped his neck, "Things do always seem a little bit easier physically. But I think it's more 'cause I was so trained..." He felt like he'd started to wander off. "If you guys need help, then, yeah... sure. I'd love to help stop them if they're hurting people..."
He started thinking, and took off his goggles to look this man straight in the eye.
"Say. Did you have a target today? Maybe... I could help. Now."
He smiled, though beneath his black mask, in the black room, Glower wouldn't be able to tell. He wanted to stop crime, and it seemed these guys went right along with that, though their criminals seemed more... powerful than the others, the thugs he normally dealt with. Maybe these guys were the mob bosses themselves; it'd be funny if the hammerhead gang was lead by some mutant shark-headed man, for instance.
This was going to be fun.
